I used to have a first edition book with photos of real people posing as shadowrunners in it, and I can't remember what it is called.  One of them had silver cybereyes.

Could have been the 1st edition Seattle sourcebook.  the London sourcebook also used some of the same actors for in-universe ads, too.
RPG mechanics exist to give structure and consistency to the game world, true, but at the end of the day, you’re fighting dragons with algebra and random number generators.

I believe the image you're thinking of is from London (Available on Amazon).

That is not the fashion I imagined would be in SR in the 2050s. It is better.

The only meaningful geopolitical changes from 1e to 5e are:

Tsimshian becomes a protectorate of Salish-Sidhe
Ute Nation becomes absorbed by the PCC
So Cal becomes absorbed by the PCC

Of course, now in 6we we now have massive changes to the borders, but that's brand new.  Like as of yesterday, when Cutting Black dropped :D
