I don't consider a base Accuracy of 3 worth it. The Claymore may only be two points higher but it also has +1 reach which takes another die away from the defender. A weapon can also be too cheap, if you have to wait for the stars to line up in a special way to actually hit something worthwile.

thats why I mentioned the personalized Grip. that in combination with Adept Powers and you have an ACC of 5

It would be 140 ¥, as well as being an Adept with at least 0.25 PP to spend. And you lose out on 1DV, -5AP and 1 reach.

Or just start off with a standard claymore, then after a run or two see about getting your hands on a Highlands... 14F shouldn't be too hard to get early on, then work towards getting it enchanted... remember you can take 7K into the game + pocket money.

I assume you'd use Combat Axe values for a "normal" Claymore? Because that's the only weapon that I'd consider close enough.

Wouldn't the Quarter Staff be a better option than the Sledge for best bang/buck?

It lacks AP but otherwise I find it to be a very good weapon for the cost.
