If you plan on doing mostly jumping in, or being a vehicle-rigger with one drone and not a drone-swarm-rigger you don't need an RCC. The main benefits of an RCC are (1) sharing autosofts, so you only have to buy 1 copy and can spread it around a bunch of drones; (2) being able to issue the same command to all drones as one action, rather than needing to spend an action on each.
If you want to be a drone-swarm-rigger, you need an RCC. If you want to have one drone and buy autosofts for just it, you're good with just a good commlink (for high Firewall).
"A few datajacks" - as if having 5 datajacks in your head isn't a cheesy exploit that is certainly not RAI.
