So my Daugher's friends are starting a Runner adventure and our party as I know it consists of a Weapons Spec/Sniper (Human IIRC), An Elf Face, Elf Smuggler (IIRC) and My Minotaur Street Samuri. We have another potentual player who probably go Dwarven Rigger? Does this stack up ok for a team of Runners in a non Magic/Matrix World? Our GM wants to feel out the rules for the basic game befor we add Magic/Cyber combat.
Suggestions?

For the first game, it sounds good. Since everyone's pretty new, I'd recommend sticking to just the Core Rulebook for now. As things progress and everyone gets a better feel for the game, then you can bring in magic and also some of the Advanced Rules from the other books like Runner's Companion, Street Magic, Arsenal and Augmentation.

Thanks Fast. Most of our characters are out of the Core... To my knowledge. My race is not a big stretch as Min Is a Troll with fancier horns. ;D

The prophecy says, if you want to introduce Magic slowly you could start slow with KI Adepts and Mystic Adepts, Magic users who can't astrally project, just perceive.

Thanks Doc. I believe that is our next addition once the GM feels comfy.

Having a good standard Shaman is always a good idea. Magic backup can be really useful. And lots of fun to have around. They have many uses and tend to smooth situations over nicely. And I definitely agree with using the standard rulebook for starting players. Once you get the hang of that branching out. And depending on how much your GM knows about the world you may have more prejudice aimed at you as a minotaur r. They are relatively new and are getting the rough end of the hate stick at times.

Well, relatively new to the Seattle area, but they've been around Greece & the Mediterranean since pre-SURGE.

LOL Hi D. Welcome to FASA/FanPro/CatLab boards Shadowrun! ;D
Gang meat my GM! :-*

My only main suggestion to add would be to make sure that your combat people have a similar number of Initiative Passes; other than that, looks like a great starting group =)

So, if you are the GM... wouldn't that make you "The Dooming One"? ;D

Doc You never GMed for me. I have a demented way of ruining GMs best laid plans or destruction! ;D
-
As much as I am sure that you are right in that I never GMed for you... it sounds strangely familiar ;D

Yes it would. The boasting of gamers/GMs has been happening since the begining of D&D. I have earned a bit of bravado since I have gamed since... I was 12-13 yrs old in '79! Shadowrun is new so I have to learn a bit of the rules but I do bring a ton of XP to a table. ;)

You know, before I started running games, I often wondered what exactly the GM was muttering behind the screen. Now I know they weren't muttering, they were weeping. ;)

I guess I'll just have to experience that for myself Fast. Thanks for the heads up! ;D
-
I for myself do not weep. I discuss the next offering to the Gods of Gaming to get some new sinister inspiration from them ;D
-
That I agree with. I love new ways to terrify a new generation of gamers!

Just send a gazebo after them. (http://www.dreadgazebo.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=8)

I know that tale from the "Knights of the dinner table" comics ;) Sadly, my players are to educated for a pun like that :(
-
Ok I am a PUNisher but what pun is formed from a Gazebo ??? I get the Grass GNOLL...
-
The joke is that he didn't know what a gazebo was and thought it was a monster.
For once, no pun involved^^
