So, the street sam got his bike boosted by a go-gang and had to take the bus for half a day before he got it back. Now his soul is scarred. He wants to keep his bike in by van. The bike has Body 6, the van has Body 16. Is there a rule somewhere about 'a thing of Body X can comfortably fit into a thing of Body X+n', or is it pretty much up to GM?

I'd say you should treat the bike as a large drone in that regard, you don't need a large drone rack for it, but just as far as capacity is concerned for the van. That's how I'd go about it.
It also depends on what kind of bike and what kind of van, if it's a chopper, might have to take the forks and front tire off, but it should fit.

It's a Mirage and a Bulldog, obviously, what else?  ;D There are no other vans but Bulldog!

Hmmm, treating it as a drone of comparable Body actually seems a very elegant solution. So the bike would take up the space of a large drone rack, which is 4 mod slots... That said, the largest large drone (not counting the humanoid one) has Body 4 to Suzuki's 6... So probably more like 6 mod slots.

Better get a bus >_<

The van can get jacked just like the bike.  Then you are out two vehicles.

Tell the sammie to invest in some cyberlegs with built in rollerskates. :P
Do you believe in a greater WIRELESS, an Invisible(WiFi) All Seeing(detecting those connected- at least if within 100'), All Knowing(all online data) Presence that we can draw upon for Wisdom(downloads & updates), Strength (wifi boni) and Comfort (porn) or do you turn your back on it  (Go Offline)?

body doesn't necessarily dictate size. Like the Tomino, blood scythe, Hassar are a bit larger than your average "Large" drone.Just keep in mind approximately what it's design is and how big it should be.

There's a thread in here somewhere dealing with just how impossibly difficult it is to steal a car or bike for good.

You can grab one to go joyriding and ump it, but that's about it, unless you're part of some BIG shit.

Also note a Drone rack is MUCH larger then the drone it is holding because a drone rack also has automated quick recovery and launching apparatus in it along with charging hookups and such as well. I would use it as a general rule for space considerations in terms of how many bikes or such we can pack in here but if your using it as a bike rack then its strictly manual deploy and loading which means its going to be a least 1 to 2 minuets to get the bike loaded or unloaded unless your willing to just roll it in and let it flop down and possibly take damage bouncing around in the back of the van unsecured.

And speaking as a real life redneck county boy, you can fit more then one bike in the back of a full size van if you take the passenger seating out. If its a service style van where the back is just bare metal you can get 2 to 4 bikes in it based on size and type. Though I will have to admit my experience is limited to dirt bikes in the 150 to 350CC ranges. I have never tried it with a Hog or Crotch rocket. But just general sizing you should have no problems at all with one of either, 2 may or may not be doable but 1 I am sure you can do with no problems.

I don't ride them myself but my uncle generally has between 4 and 10 bikes in his workshop at any given time, mostly Harleys.  For a full sized work van I'd put the limit at 3 dirt bikes, 2 crotch rockets, or 1 hog before it starts getting complicated to impossible to fit more in the back.

aaand now I know what a 'crotch rocket' is. that was enlightening  ;D

we'll see about getting the sam an anti-theft system, I think... with his luck he's going to try to ride into the back of the van full speed and then crash through the windshield. the cleanup will take days of extended rolls...

I always think of modern day shadowrun security being similar to car security in the original Robocop movie!  :)

Right, and go-gangs care about changing ownership? Hell, they'd probably steal the bike, take it back to their hangout, and wait for the damned street sam to show up so they can give him a good beating (or at least try)...

Pretty much up to the GM.

I actually built a hireable rigger ("Rush Hour") for my players to hire who keeps a rigged Suzuki Mirage inside his van - a Rover.
