So, what is RAW in regards to Improved Invisibility? What happens if someone has Improved Invisibility 6 and someone astraly perceives in their direction? Are they lit up like the 4th of July?

Well, the RAW for astral stuff in 6e is in an awfully underdefined state.  My understanding of the SR metaphysics is such that Invisibility (of all stripes) is useless vs Astral Perception.

However, spells have astral forms and the spell itself is not invisible, even if one presumes that the spell's magic works on the target's aura for whatever reason.

RPG mechanics exist to give structure and consistency to the game world, true, but at the end of the day, you’re fighting dragons with algebra and random number generators.

There is no "blind fire" modifier in this edition (in this edition you instead automatically fail attacks against targets you cannot see).

Invisible in this edition mean that you are very hard to spot to normal sight (and as long as you can't see through the invisibility then your attacks will also automatically fail, but once you see through the invisibility spell the invisibility spell will not make it harder or easier to hit).

Invisibility does not make you invisible to hearing (including ultrasound), touching, smell, taste. It also does not make you invisible to the 6th astral sense (astral perception is not affected).

What happens if someone has Improved Invisibility 6 and someone astraly perceives in their direction?
The intangible living aura of the target will not be affected by the invisibility spell and the target will be fully visible for an astral observer.

Are they lit up like the 4th of July?
The tangible astral form of active spells will typically be immediately obvious for astral observers.
