There are/were real world talks about Chrysler and Nissan in Production Deal (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/12/business/12auto.html?ref=worldbusiness).
There is a real Purpose Built Police Patrol Vehicle (http://www.carbonmotors.com/) coming in 2012.
So clearly, Carbon Motors became successful enough to be acquired by the Chrysler-Nissan joint venture.

believe I read an article about these back in 2008. its about time.
-
Wonder if the Lone Eagle incident is gonna play out, too?
-
I want one! No wait I want two! :D
-
Hey, that thing's got suicide doors. I'm betting its so police can have cover from any direction when they exit the vehicle.
-
This is what my brother-in-law drives:

Oh, and I found another pic of the Carbon Motors car:

I think I want one. Not with the sirens or paint scheme, just the specs.
"Cop tires, cop engine, cop suspension."

The suicide doors open wider than normal doors and make it easier to put suspects in and out of the back.
On top of that, the rear compartment is:- completely separated from the front section (sort of like a limo, but for officer safety)
- has seats designed to fit handcuffed passengers
- has reversed seat belts that are easier and safer to put on suspects
- made only from materials that can be hosed down (with a drain plug in the floor)
The front seats are also specially designed to be comfortable even when wearing a complete equipment belt.
-
I'd take one with the paint and sirens! *drool*
edited for spelling

The website for Carbon Motors (http://www.carbonmotors.com) has a bunch of nice high res images of their car.

The T-98 looks like more of an executive protection vehicle than a police car but I could see them adding the features of the Carbon Motors car and putting them in a T-98. The Carbon Motors car looks like... well a cop car, perfect for the beats that take officers through Belleview or Downtown. The T-98 on the other hand looks like it would be right at home in Mogadishu. Like something that the Star would use on patrol in Touristville or some of the nastier parts of Renton and Tacoma.

Yeah...Tacoma...home, sweet home... maybe that is why this is how I remember cop cars :D

That is one SEXY patrol car!!!!
I think that I would want Michelin's airless tires! REAL runflat tires!
-
Needs a sensor bar in the front with a light going back and forth.
And the voice of William Daniels.

Y'know... 2050 is only 39 years away.
Just sayin'. ;D

If the world actually ends up like ShadowRun (with or without magic) I'm moving to a remote island and cutting off all contact with the outside world.

You realize that sounds like the opening credits to a Stallone or Schwarzenegger movie from the late 80's? Just before the government finds you to "save the world".
-
as a wise snake once said "if you send a man to save the world make sure he likes the world the way it is."
-
Jack, now that you mention it I do. Crap.
Morg, they really wouldn't want to give me access to their best tech and whatnot. I'd just leave and better fortify my little cave/island.
-
But it would let you blow stuff up your way on their New yen, the possibilities are endless.
-
True. Very true. Dammit. Now I'm torn between my desire to be left alone and my love of mayhem. Curse you Buridan! Curse you and your f-ing ass!
