Title: [SR5] Infected and initiation
Post by: MrAtoni on <07-28-17/0923:05>
I don't know if I'm misunderstanding something, or missed something somewhere.

On p. 141 of Run Faster it says, about Infected, that "Neither can they astrally project, bond foci, or initiate."
Later it says that "An Infected character's aura always reveals its infected nature, though this may be masked by metamagic as normal."

But metamagic is an initiate power. So how do you mask your aura when you can't initiate?

On a related note, is there any way for an infected adept to get power points, other than raising your magic attribute?

Easy: Be an adept or mage and an infected

That doesn't really answer any of my questions.

Infected can't do all those things just because they are infected, aka have a magic rating.
They can still do so, normally, by the same means a non-infected metahuman can.
As such, an Infected Adept can get powerpoints the same way a non-infected can.

Ooooohhh... As I reread p414 I think I get it now.
English isn't my native language, so grammatically I read it as if magically active characters can still learn and use skills linked to the Magic attribute, but can't astrally project, bond foci or initiate.

Thanks for clearing things up, UnLimiTeD.

Sorry if I sounded rude, Jack_Spade. Now I get what you were trying to say.
