Title: Shadowrun 6e and Foundry
Post by: Battenhatch on <02-01-21/1619:43>
While there is a Shadowrun 5e Game System for the Foundry virtual tabletop (www.foundryvtt.com) there is not one for Shadowrun 6e yet.

A developer has been a bit at it here: https://github.com/Nevenall/foundry-shadowrun6e, but is curretly inactive, though he has indicated to me that he is looking to pass the torch to someone else.

So, any takers? My javascrit skills are exactly zero - but I love Foundry, and would gladly join eg. a patreon dedicated to producing a functioning game system, especially if it could import charcters from GeneGsis.

Just learned that rpgframework/Genesis-related people have en effort underways.

We do - or better: we joined efforts with one who started, but it is all in very early stages.

The author of the current (once german only) SR6 Roll20 sheet switched to Foundry VTT lately and is eager to port his Roll20 code to Foundry - or write new one.
Our intention is to provide an german and english language files and character import from Genesis.

But: we basically just started and get used to write for Foundry, so it won't be ready within the next months. (Maybe we offer early snapshots to at least enable basic dice rolls, but that must be discussed internally)

It's just great news that something is underways :)

Unfortunately we are slower than we anticipated. But there is an installable version on BitBucket (https://bitbucket.org/rpgframework-cloud/shadowrun6-eden/).

You can already export characters from Genesis (since 1.6.0) and import them in Foundry, roll skill checks and manage damage and edge, but we are still working on adding more content to the char sheets and only started working on an NPC sheet. So, it is in very early stages.

A new release (0.2.1) slightly improves the combat handling, though there is still room for more improvements.

Version 0.4.0 has been released

I also reworked the roll dialogs and consider them now prettier, as well as more useful. It calculates who gets Edge, allows selecting how to spend edge (the list of Edge actions is incomplete for now), modify your spell and configure some roll mechanics.

Work in progress is the chat message with the roll result. It shows relevant info, but we only started working on post-roll operations (like spending Edge for rerolls, make defense rolls, soak rolls, resist drain - its all scheduled for future releases).

To make full use of it, you will need to run "Genesis-Staging" for now - it includes the most-up-to-date Foundry character export version.

Is a Foundry license needed in order to check out/test this stuff?

Yes, it is.

Foundry is a one-time buy VTT. There is no free version

And it is important to note: Only the GM has to buy Foundry. All players can join without the need of owning Foundry.

Looks good. Downloaded. But [stupid?] question: what is the executable file?

There is no such thing. This is a plugin for the software "Foundry VTT (https://foundryvtt.com/)", a commercial ($50) software you can run on a computer of your choice to host virtual tabletop games. The software itself has no special support for any RPG, but a very active community. For Shadowrun there is support for SR5 and for SR6.
