Title: Orc Rights Smiley Face?
Post by: MadBear on <02-25-14/1104:45>
I don't know if it's the official log of O.R.C. but I recall a tusked smiley face being associated with the movement. I've been trying to find some clip art of a tusked smiley face, and it's damned impossible. Fangs, yes, but no tusks. Bull's avatar, is what I'm looking for. This is for personal use, so I assume I'm not treading on any legal toes...
Can anyone help me out here?

You could just grab his avatar from the Shadowrun Universe forum. I'd tell you the link to Bull's imageshack folder, which I think includes it as well, but I can't find it anymore.

I think it appeared in one of the first or second edition books.  I'm pretty sure the Metahuman Rights activist contact in the Second Edition corebook is wearing that as a button.  Unsure though.

You know, I never thought of those as tusks.  I just figured it was an artistic device.

That image always reminded me of the Transient Movement pin from Transmetropolitan.  Damn good comic.  I'm sure the similarities are not entirely coincidental.

Bull for Mayor of the Ork Underground!

Seriously!  Bull should be the Mayor.  And what's up with Kay St. Irregular?  I thought he was a shoe-in for a position in the UCAS sector of Denver.

Start hunting for similar smileies in the artwork, BTW.

I noticed that in quite a few of the art pieces.  I've seen some others too, though I can't pick them out of memory right now.

So just like how Playboy has the bunny logo somewhere on the cover, we have the Orc logo and other SR smilies stashed away in the art?

What other similiarities are there?

Yeah, I don't think it was ever made into anything official, just a fun little touch one artist liked to toss into his pieces. I've always loved the idea, and for years wore a custom made Orc smiley face pin. Lost that some time ago, and want another.
I also always thought the teef looked a little like the electrical engineering symbol for Resistor, which was a nice touch.

After everything that went on in Denver, I don't think Kay St. wants to be in charge of the UCAS sector.

He'd be SOOOO much better than that Humanis thug that's in office right now.  Hmm...  this gives me an idea for my Denver campaign.

True...Lesker really needs to take a dive...I'm amazed Coiltion hasn't offered a contract on his head yet.

If she was to take out a contract, who'd you think she'd use?  Bravo company perhaps?

The runners, without a doubt!  Or maybe she hires Bravo Company, MET2000 or some other organization and the runners are hired to defend Lesker.

I don't see her using MET2000 because their currently on a re-hiring run after the Amazonia-Aztlan run.  I mentioned Bravo Company as a possibility because she worked with them before and during the New Revolution fiasco.  Would be interesting to see how Ghostwalker took to having Lesker geeked...could just see him just ignoring it like nothing happened.

I was thinking the about the Lesker dilemma the other days and came up with someone else who would love to bring him down: Nadja Daviar.  I mean her and the Draco Foundation in Denver have been butting heads with Humanis for some time making which could be a good reason to bring Lesker down.  But the real thing that could make Daviar want to take down Lesker is if he had some connection to Ares and Damien Knight, which I could easily see Lesker having due to Knight's recent move of Universal Omnitech to the UCAS section of Denver.

The problem, though, is Daviar wouldn't go for the strategic upfront kill as Colloton would.  I'd see Daviar digging up as much dirt on Lesker as possible and releasing it to the public to ruin his image.  Maybe even go so far as to bankrupt him and force him to live on the streets or such before finally at his lowest stage having him geeked.  That could easily make for an interesting couple of jobs for some runners.

The other thing that came to mind while I was thinking is that if Colloton didn't want to appear as the one ordering the hit on Lesker, she could always tab Kay Street to help her.  I mean it seems to me that Kay supports Colloton in her endeavors and Colloton could easily dangle the carrot of political power in front of Kay to get him to jump.  Plus he'd have an easier time delving into the shadow community while keeping things quiet unlike Colloton.
