Inside the quality phase, it's still 1:1, even if you buy more positive than you have negatives. In character advancement, the 2:1 applies.
yeah if you take X worth of positive qualities and no negative qualities, then you simply have 50-X karma available for skills/attributes/nuyen.

Thank you,  it was the cost ratios that was confusing me then.

yeah AFTER you finish character generation and you want to go back and buy more positive qualities, THEN they cost 2x the karma of the listed price

Can this be added to the ERRATA cleanup crew? By mentioning "The points are spent on [...] an additional quality" in STEP: FOUR SPEND CUSTOMIZATION KARMA, implies a different cost calculation. CHARACTER ADVANCEMENT even mentions that these are the costs you use for the bonus Karma gained in character creation.

No need since it is already explicitly stated in the existing rules how you handle it after character creation:

SR6 p. 69 Character Advancement - Qualities
Qualities can be obtained in two ways after character creation; they can be purchased, or they can be earned.

Purchased
Purchasing a positive quality requires spending twice the normal Karma cost. New negative qualities cannot be “purchased” in an effort to get moreKarma after character creation, but negative qualities the character already has can be eliminated by paying twice the base Karma bonus.
