So there I was laying in bed watching TMZ with my wife and an advertisement came on for the Green Hornet movie. They showed a clip of the hornet picking his name. It went something like this;
"I'll be the Green Hornet, and you'll be... The Blue Marsupia l:nuke:." To which Kato hits the hornet in the crotch!
I spit out my drink laughing my @$$ off!
My baby just gave me THAT look :-\.
Explaining Blue Marsupials to an outsider is hard is all I am saying! ::)
For those of you not familiar with Wombat of CBT... SHe is quite a Character ;)
-
Fear the blue fuzzy one....that is all I have to say.
;)
But yeah, saw the GH trailer, I was worried about Rogan, but...now not so much.
-
Yeah, I see they are making the movie with a bit of Campy humor that fits Rogan's style. Nice to see a hero movie that is looking like its just supposed to be a fun romp. Tickles me that the hero is more of a sidekick while the sidekick is the hero! ;D
-
And dont forget...the car.

Sorry I was enjoying a cigarette after thinking of the car! ;D
-
I saw the car (and Kato's nitrous-injected Harley) at The Source in Minneapolis a few months back. Both were VERY sweet rides.
I'm still not sure on the comedic side of the Green Hornet. Yes, he was campy in the 60s (same as Batman) and it may be good. My worries are that other studios may decide "Campy Hero" is the new In thing and we're back to fighting to have them taken seriously again.
As for GH being a sidekick to Kato... Well, let's just say that's a holdover from Bruce Lee being the original Kato on the TV series. Hard to make that man a second fiddle to anyone (remember, he kicked Chuck Norris' ass).
-
So did my High School art teacher. With Pictures to prove it! ;D
-
I've gotta agree with FJ, I'm a little torn on the campy style with GH. It was supposed to be a serious setup, but it seems more like a buddy cop movie rather than a pulp hero.
-
Saw this preview last night when I went to see Tron this movie is a maybe for me.
Also saw previews for the next pirates movie some new people but still the same idea so i'll probally go.
Thor the next marvel movie will probally see it too.
And then there was the preview of Real Steel or as I will now call it from here on out Rock'em Sock'em Robots movie! ;D Might see it

I hope that they have the Hornet be an actual detective in addition to a smart-ass. In the original (although to the chagrin to the actor portraying the Hornet), the Hornet was the thinker to Kato's fists of fury.
-
During the football game last night, they recut the trailer to highlight the action aspects... So maybe they're just playing up the "buddy cop" aspect in the trailers I'd seen so far. However, the thinker aspect... I don't know about that. In some I'd seen, the backstory is that the guy who plays the Hornet is a layabout rich kid that sorta fell into the media empire when his dad died. Whether he's a SMART layabout or not... We'll ultimately have to see.
-
The previous incarnation was that of a shrewd detective solving crimes with his high-octane beatstick laying waste to baddies with his fists. I'd say that's a great team-up, whether it's on TV, the movies, or an RPG.

Thank god Green Lantern is already filming or they might re-cast Jack Black. I had a serious meltdown when I heard about that.
-
I don't really care for Green Lantern, but the idea of Jack Black playing him sent a shiver down my spine.
-
Be glad it's campy and not kiddied up. Love the TMNT comics, HATE the *&^%&*% cartoons. I'll take campy any day.
-
I grew up with the TMNT cartoon and loved it. When I was 8. Now I can't help but laugh at how crappy and cheesy it is.
-
Oh, yeah. In the comics, when Raphael was involved in the story, someone was gonna die.
-
I have never read a TMNT comic. Probably because I just can't get the shitty cartoon from my youth out of my brain. Every time I see one of them I think pizza and cowabunga. Ugh. And Krang. God I hate Krang. I hated him when I was a kid too.
-
Krang was there in the comic, but he wasn't a bad guy. He was the leader of a race of beings that the turtles helped.
And April O'Neil wasn't a reporter or whatever, she was Dr. Stockman's lab assistant.
Casey Jones was certifiably insane, though.
-
Actually, there was no Krang. They just created him for the cartoon. He was inspired by that same race though. The Utroms. And Casey Jones was nuts, but after they fleshed him out and had him marry April, he just had a bad childhood. :)
-
Nuts is nuts. The whys of it aren't as important as crazy-hockey-mask-killing-man.
-
Wasn't the TMNT cartoon they made a few years ago supposed to be closer to the comics or something? Still neutered for the snowflakes, but better? I seem to remember a TMNT comic loving coworker bitching about it less.
-
It was closer to the comic in tone, but still had stuff the comic didn't (no story of Leonardo getting his ass handed to him by Shredder and about 50 foot soldiers, for one thing) and was still kiddied down a bit. It was better than what had come previously, but still not quite there.
-
At least they tried. I guess?

Actually they did do that storyline. Although, yes it was kiddied up. Instead of suffering from blood loss, they just gave him lots of bruises. lol
It was close in tone, but no actual blood could be shown. They ramped up the fight scenes a bit by season 3. Not bad.
-
Yeah but back in the original graphic novel the Turtles... actually killed their enemies! :o
Sure it was a pannel with a blood splatter and "SLASH" but they still killed! ;D :-*
-
I dunno, I kinda prefer both. I mean, the cartoon was obviously for kids, and to be honest, the comic book was still meant to be a PARODY of grim n' gritty indie comics, which is why its own violence was over the top.
-

In Asia, they called it "The Kato Show".
-
Kato did do all the work.
-
Saw the movie. I was amused. I'd see it again. That is high praise. ;D ;)
-
I saw GH yesterday with my wife. I think it's the first movie I've ever walked out of feeling irritated. I'm the kind of guy that can have fun at any movie. I just don't expect much out of any movie, so it's easy to have fun, but Seth Rogen got under my skin... My wife on the other hand is the opposite of me on how she views movies and she wanted to see GH again!? I don't know maybe it was the nose-bleed seats or all the grandmas that couldn't see over their steering wheels that I was stuck behind on the way there and on the way home...
-
It might be Seth Rogan too... I know that, even in movies I've enjoyed (Pineapple Express, Zack & Miri), I've thought it could be better without him.
-
I think it's his hair.
-
Nah, it's his goofy laugh for me. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard.
-
Oh I agree Seth could have been played by quite a few other "leading" men. The first 20 minutes or so left me thinking... Can I do something better with my time? but I did enjoy.
-
Personally I'm interested to see just what the hell Edgar Wright does with Ant Man.
I mean, a superhero movie is just another movie, but an Edgar Wright film is always awesome.

Ant Man? Ant Man?? ANT MAN!!!
Are you serious?
SNL had a hero skit once. Hulk discribed Ant Man as a hero who shinks to the size of an ant but retained his normal human strength! Oh and he talks to bugs.
This will be a boring movie, it might look cool, but Ho Hum.
OMG I have found my new favorite forum font! ;D :-*

Ant Man aka Hank Pym aka Giant Man is one of the founding members of the Avengers.

Yeah... what's up with that? He shrinks to the size of an ant and keeps his normal strength, but when he grows big his strength increases? I mean, where's the physics of that?? ;)

That there is FASA phiziks.I was there... (ish) for those formative years of the Avengers. I also would have liked seeing them in the upcoming movie, But Hank & Janet are really just support characters compared to the base lineup. and there is going to be a big enough FX budget for the crew already!!!

Dude. Less is more. That is rough to read.

Depends on how they protray the character. In the Ultimates he's got...issues. In the new Avengers cartoon, hes protrayed as the pascifistic Uber-nerd of the group. The latter I do find entertaining and a nice contrast to HULK SMASH!! and Hawkeye's smart-ass. But even if Hank and Janet are background support, that's fine with me.
