The amazing Echo Chernik is illustrating an entire Tarot deck with all the artwork done her style of the Shadowrun universe. The project is due in 2016.

Just watching out for people like Wak who aren't on the fastest connections. The link is still available, though. (Just in case, see below)

It's a  full-sized Tarot deck being published by Catalyst next year. The art is applicable to the Shadowrun universe and will have plot relevance beyond looking cool.

I take great pride in my commission by her. Got in before she had the massive name recognition and love the piece she made for me.

Can you share the piece?

My retirement gift to myself will be to get a commissioned piece from Echo.  I have a few years to save up :)
That's just like... your opinion, man.

You mean like a playing cards deck. With four suits and all.
Oh man, I was over thinking this one. Ahahahahahah.
Thanks :D

Tarot card decks are not normally used for card games.

Agreed. This looks like a 'training wheels' edition, that you can use to introduce someone to the setting, and then shift over to something like 5E or 4E. Like how D&D 5E is best used as training wheels for D&D 3.X.

Nope, tarot decks are not the same as playing card decks (although it is speculated that playing card decks evolved from tarot decks). Tarot decks are a tool for divination. It'd take too long to go into here, but you can do some searches for tarot decks, and you should be able to easily find some more detailed information.

Tarot decks are divination tools. They are divided into the Minor and Major Arcana. Minor Arcana encompasses four suits (Swords, Wands, Cups, and Pentacles) with 14 cards each (Ace to 10, and then the Knave, Knight, Queen, and King), and each suit representing a certain element. Swords are associated with Fire, Wands with Earth, Cups with Water, and Pentacles with Air. The Major Arcana is a set of 22 cards with singular figures, such as the High Priestess, the Tower, or Death. Each card in the Minor and Major Arcana has two meanings, one when it is placed right side up, and the other when it is 'inverse', or upside down. A typical reading takes between 3 to 10 cards, depending on the array you use, with each card having a different interpretation of its meaning based on its position in the array.

not as much now, but originally they were playing cards that just happened to be used later on in divination, which often made use of a wide range of common things to foretell with.

I still prefer roasting the bones of my enemies and reading the future through the patterns of cracks on their charred surfaces, aka pyro-osteomancy.

<_<

Ahem.

You can still occasionally see people playing tarot as a card game in France and a few of the eastern European countries.

Do you believe in a greater WIRELESS, an Invisible(WiFi) All Seeing(detecting those connected- at least if within 100'), All Knowing(all online data) Presence that we can draw upon for Wisdom(downloads & updates), Strength (wifi boni) and Comfort (porn) or do you turn your back on it  (Go Offline)?

If you ever want to try your hand at a game, there is a good site here explaining the rules of play for the French version, though some do prefer the Slovenian version.

What would really be awesome is a pdf of of the art alone, with no tarot.  I'd love to have the art, have some personal qualms about purchasing a tarot deck.  As a second choice, pdf of the deck.

I would expect a PDF version of the deck would be released...you could always extract the images and not use the "deck". Also, Echo Chernik, the artist, typically does a KS at least once a year...often has the option to buy various prints. I've got a number of pieces via these that can be found on the covers and pages of SR books.
