Title: [IC] Underworld 93 - Mach 2073
Post by: Bull on <03-16-11/1449:01>
OOC Note: Events in this thread build up to SRM 04-01 Hiding in the Dark.  Once that adventure is released, please, avoid spoilers as always.  Also, when discussing PDF releases, note that any book that will be released in "hard copy" is not valid and legal for Missions until it sees print, so avoid spoilers and utilizing events and items from that book until it's officially released.

I've been keeping my ear to the ground to see how the new top cops in town have been handling things. Lone Star was corrupt, but they were a familiar corrupt.  KE brings in a whole different level of play.
From what I've heard, the KESCTF (Boy, that's a mouthful) has been working with that new A.D.A., Oaks, to crack down on organized crime. The Mafia's been muscling into the Yak and the Triad's turf in Downtown, and things have been getting bloody.  Supposedly the SCTF put a couple of their best undercover agents into play months ago, getting in with the Mob, and they both went dark over the last week or two.  Couple that with the rising body count, and sounds like somethings going down.]<<<<<

I do have to wonder if I'm the only one who thinks it is a good thing that the organized crime syndicates, who've historically been the second biggest source of informants and security leaks behind the House of Representatives, is finally putting some minimal effort into internal security.  They're definitely up to something big, but I'm glad to see that for the first time in decades, that something big isn't going to be getting arrested, telling a federal prosecutor everything they know about everyone they've ever met, and getting moved to Ohio by the Witness Protection Program.]<<<<<

I'm relatively sure I can rule out drug dealers, though. The little apartment owned by the first victim could have belonged to my grandmother. LeFay, I don't have time to find a link right now, but you might want to look up any information you can find on something called "The Spear of Longinius". What I gave were the standard rough measurements of a Roman spear from about the middle of their empires time period.

SPD, sounds like i should be glad i only have the Triads and the Mafia to deal with down here in the Gulf Coast Metroplex. Thankfully i have a good deal going with them.]<<<

As for what happened, I went to a nice little Japanese restaurant, and someone decided to do a drive-by. The funny part is, it's owner was keeping the Yak's at bay with the help of his two sons. One of them got shot too, and they had to put him in a tank for a week. I've got two bullets to the chest, and that was all. The place was riddled with holes, and the Knights caught the car two blocks down. Mob kids. They didn't even think of checking the place out before. What follows is a little tidbit on what I found out. I'll tell you the rest after I sleep for about a week.

Wolfgar, although your hunch wasn't quite correct, it did lead me to the true nature of the spear. It is not the "The Spear of Longinius" or any other legendary weapon, but a magical focus crafted to resemble one. Japanese myth holds that the nation was created by a pair of deities named Izanagi and Izanami. A jeweled spear was the tool used to shape a formless mass into the islands we know today. The maker of this focus obviously took inspiration from the legend.]<<<<<
