A little something I've cooked up in the past that I'll share to you folk.

The wire master was once a spec force operative, adapting to the needs of each mission with a simple slot of a chip. He left government service for being 'to restrictive' and 'not paying enough' and took his skills to the shadows. He looks to improve himself more, and acquire more skills, adapting on the fly as needed for a mission.

Help me understand.
What is the difference between skillwire and skilljack?

Skilljack is the prerquesite and only works on knowledge skills; then Skillwire upgrades to work on active (non-magic) skills?

Knowsofts and linguasofts require a skilljack (which interprets them for your brain), Activesofts require both a skilljack and a skillwire (which controls your muscles using signals from the skilljack).

Nice build, tried a similar one. Only problem is the skillwire: with availability of rating*4, you can have only rating 3 at chargen (rating 4 if prime runner is used). That means you can use only rating 3 active skillsofts, which really hurts the build as you need to spend minimum 120k on the wirings.

Dang, your right. Didn't think to check that. Have to adjust him to set up for getting the upgrade later, or wait and see if the runners companion book has an edge that lets you grab a piece of equipment that has a higher rating.

heh

With availibility in mind, id probably suggest running with attributes A, Ressources B

Grab yourself some used grade skillwire, you can get rating 4s even as a regular runner, and you seem to have some essence to spare with 3.8. It'll even save some nuyens. And with better attributes, it'll make up for your weaker chips.
Or go with max skilljacks, buy more knowledge, and rating 2ish skillwire, and wait in-game till you can afford ''The good stuff''
