Hello!
This is my first build for a character I'm going to play soon. Feel free to criticize, I'm a newbie after all.

== Info ==
Street Name: Angel (short for Fallen Angel)
Name: Mary Ann Miller
Movement: 8/16
Karma: 0
Street Cred: 0
Notoriety: 0
Public Awareness: 0
Elf
Composure: 11
Judge Intentions: 11
Lift/Carry: 6 (30 kg/20 kg)
Memory: 13
Nuyen: 5340

Background:

Some people are born for success - Mary Ann Miller was literally built for it. Her parents, both high profile executive in a corporation in Sydney, spent a fortune to genetically tailor their unborn child to be perfect in every way - physically and mentally. Mary grew up spoiled, pampered and well educated, all for a single goal: climbing to a high position in the corporation and securing her family's status.

Between her brains and her education, by 20 Mary had already a college grade degree and, having shown an aptitude for computers, a comfortable position in the company's Informatics Security, with the promise of raising, in some twenty years, to the high levels of the department.

However, as easy as her life was, it was also terribly boring. Over time, Mary grew more and more restless; after fending off a few attacks from shadowrunners, she became interested in their subculture and started lurking around in the less reputable parts of the Matrix.
She was 25 when she took part in her first run. It was a simple job of stealing data from a rival corp, and she didn't meet much resistance, but the thrill of plunging into the depths of the Matrix looking for trouble had her hooked - that night, Angel was born.
Mary kept sliding further and further into her little "hobby", until the thrill and dangers of a run were all she lived for. Sure, her everyday life was nice and earned her enough money to maintain her life of luxury, but only when, at night, she jacked into her deck and rode the adrenaline of a run she felt truly alive and kicking.

The last thread that held her to her corporate life was cut the day the son of the local branch's vice-president proposed to her. Of course, her family considered it a great honor; but the though of becoming a trophy wife and baby factory to some self-centered manager, not to mention giving up her life as Angel, gave her the creeps.
A few days later, Mary was leaving the Seattle airport for a "business trip", with all the dirt she could dig up on her "fianceť" safely stored in a corner of the Matrix, programmed to be released to the public should she fail to input a password daily. A quick stop to move her money to a disposable credit stick, and Mary Ann Miller disappeared forever...

With the help of a runner she was in contact with Angel managed to set up a fake identity as Lucy Summers, electronics expert, but her resources were drying up fast. She needed some serious work, and fast.

Appearance: Even if you happened to work with her, it would be very unlikely for you to personally meet Angel. She would usually support a group remotely, and all you'd see of her would be her Matrix avatar, a pale skinned woman in dark clothes with a pair of black feathered wings on her back.
Should you ever meet the real Angel, you'd be confronted with the image of a confident, beautiful, tall elf dressed in tasteful, and undoubtly expensive, clothes. Her shoulder length blonde hair would do a nice job in hiding the tiny datajack port on the back of her head. She speaks with a slight, but noticeable, Australian accent.

Personality: Angel is a smart and calculating woman who clearly knows her way around people and social etiquette. Only when she jacks into the Matrix she gives in to her wildest side: she loves the thrill of a close call encounter with a black IC or of breaking into the safest corporate networks.

The crunch seems nice. That background is going to come back to kick you in the face, I'd guess, but that's not necessarily a bad thing (well storywise anyway).

You have skill B, so 5 points of Skill Group. What did you spend them on? First thought would be firearms + influence, but that's 6 total so that means you spend karma on them (which is probably not worth it). It'd be best to just go 5 influence instead and buy a firearm skill loose (you don't need all three firearm skills anyway, you're not a street sam). Note that you can't use skill points to buy up skills that you spend group points on (a quick count makes me think you did that).
Speaking of skills, Software and Hardware might fit thematically, but they don't really do that much besides some special tests (software less so still). Computer, on the other hand, comes up quite a lot (Matrix perception and search use it, for example). I'd buy that up to 6 first.
With your backstory and role, I'm surprised you didn't at least put some points into Con.

First Aid isn't really something to dabble in (unfortunately - it's a rule thing, it fits a lot of concepts story-wise). Skill 1 means a limit of 1 box healed. Medkit rating 1 is also kind of useless - you're better off buying 3 (for portability) or 6 (for best effect, but it's large). They're not expensive, and cost the same to restock anyway. Mind you, a rating 6 medkit is better at healing - by itself - then you will with a rating 3 medkit, if you stick to skill rating 1.

Your guns have smartgun systems - which is good - but you don't have a smartlink. You should get one, either as cyberware or in contacts or glasses. You do need a license for that as well, but on the other hand you only need a general firearms license. Speaking of guns, I'd pick automatics as your main weapon type. With 8 dice (assuming skill 3 and a non-cyber smartlink), you're going to need automatic fire to have a decent chance to hit.
How do you get around without a car?

Contactswise, a 1/1 contact isn't going to be of too much use. Both low-loyalty and low-connection contacts have their use, but this is a nobody that barely likes you. Is there a compelling reason to keep Shadow? Otherwise it'd be best spend on the 3/3 contacts.

Well, challenging enemies make for interesting heroes, and corporations are *the* big bads in cyberpunk. That doesn't mean she's going to challenge her corp head on like some Robin Hood. I figured she has some kind of truce going on: she refrains from attacking them and occasionally work for them, and they leave her alone.
A car and a few other commodities are something more to buy, but I still have spare cash. What concerns me is the low end deck she has, but background called for A in attributes and C in resources, and decks are awfully expensive...

The deck is a big weak point, yes. I'm not too familiar with decks and don't have the book in front of me, but that's something to update for sure (on a tangent, I really don't like how silly expensive decks are in SR5; I wish it was a more modular update-able thing so upgrading post-chargen is actually feasible without the GM throwing you a bone. But that's a seperate topic).

Transportation can be gotten for cheap though, 5k or so gets you a lame scooter. Nothing to be proud of, but it gets you to places.

Corp as a background enemy is a potential powderkeg, but not something that'd come up all of the time. If they find out where you are they might want to retrieve you, or use you as an asset, but the main office - especially after a while - probably won't really care. Still, it's -25 for a reason. You're on file with the corps - they probably will find out sooner or later, and someone else might too (and not like it).

I strongly advise against a 25-karma Negative Quality. By having a single NQ that has only very limited mechanical downsides, the GM is faced with a really tough choice. Either they basically let you get away with it, which is unfair against other players, or they employ the NQ to its full extent, which may very well ruin the game for you and turn you away from Shadowrun.

SINner (25 karma) is NASTY. When played out into its full fluff, asides from fearing the Corp you have to fear everyone else. If ever exposed, even your fellow players will be very tempted to execute your character. Your contacts may abandon you and any other NPCs you interacted with may also decide to just have you killed. This means you'd have to play extremely paranoid, while the GM has to give you a hard time, and if things ever go wrong you are VERY likely to lose the character.

So I strongly recommend against it, because a high-karma NQ like this has too big a chance to be either free karma or a game-killer, neither of which are good for the enjoyment of the game. If you want SINner I'd go with Corporate Limited or simply the 5-karma level.

Michael has a point. The background doesn't really support 5 or 15 level though. That can be explained with a rewrite (it's mostly the job as corporate security officer that points to 25 SIN). Another option is that during fleeing you somehow managed to scrub your SIN.

Well, although the building & repairing rules are god awful, you could technically upgrade your Cyberdeck with the Hardware skill.

I would try to get at least a Microtronica Azteca cyberdeck; it's pretty much double the price, but so much better it's not even funny. It should be noted that it will take probably 5-10 runs to get enough money, if you're lucky, for a better cyberdeck, so you are going to be stuck with what you start with for a while. Anyway, even though you have a bad deck, I would highly suggest getting all programs. Virtual Toolbox lets you run 2 programs, which can be upgrades to your low attributes, or whatever you want.

Also, even though you will hit your limit from your deck easily, I would recommend getting specializations for Hacking and Cybercombat, as you want to maximize your decking potential when necessary. Electronic Warfare could also stand to be slightly higher, but that's not as important. Software is also only used, for Deckers, to create and disarm Data Bombs. That doesn't come up that often, and when it does, a skill level of 4 should be good enough.

Yeah, I had a hard time figuring out how best to work with Pascal's background due to that limitation. Ended up with a decent fluff explanation and a normal SIN, plus a nice character motivation.

Well, I have lots of spare Karma anyway, so I figure I could say she corrupted her corporate SIN before disappearing, which would be the sensible thing to do. Of course, they'll still have her on a black list...
The deck... well, I really don't know where to start gathering all that money.

You'd either take a significant hit in skills and go Resources B, or stick to the deck now and wait for either modification rules, modification houserules or for the GM to give you a chance to do a trade-in.

Codeslinger is always a good quality to have as well. The deck might be out of your reach for now if you intend to stick with Resources C.

Also keep in mind that you can do with a lower-quality deck if you do more hacking in the field, connecting to a system with your data cable, versus in total VR from somewhere else. Hack a camera remotely and its host's defenses can help it; hack it in person plugging directly in to it and they don't.
Playability > verisimilitude.
