hey all first time posting but looking for some help. my friend and i have very different interpretations of how mana window actually functions. could you all point us in the right direction?

option 1: mana window works the same as clairvoyance with the following changes.
A)it can go through barriers with a check of the barriers force vs hits on spell.
B)it is an active spell and thus falls under all the rules of an active detection spell.

option 2: mana window ONLY works when cast on a barrier. if there is no barrier the spell fails to function at all.

thanks in advance for any help you all can give.

I'd lean towards it doing everything clairvoyance does, "plus".
RPG mechanics exist to give structure and consistency to the game world, true, but at the end of the day, you’re fighting dragons with algebra and random number generators.
