SR4A. No Free Spirit's, AI's, weird changelings, or anything like that.
As for roles, we seem to have a Face (Sludig), and a Technomancer (Joe). All others are available. If you want magic, go for it. :)

Great. Will PM you a character in a bit. Will either go mage or samurai.

Oh, and don't get any Lifestyle yet. You can't take them with you. You can also cut on Contacts, except for those that can work overseas (matrix, smugglers, and such).

Actually there is spellweaver, just not the front line hitter, we could use some more offensive magic, but some effective muscle/cyber power would be handy
Sorry for a small delay ;)

Well, my character is more of a hybrid Shooter/Face.  I'll probably keep the contacts and lifestyle...it's actual central to the character. :D

Okay. But they will have to work around and across the ocean. :)

Sludig: I am not completely sure how Kot will be using our char gen contacts in this game, but I do know that he said:

Quote
Your characters will be foreigners, without any solid knowledge of TriCity

So, if you have contacts with international ties (connection rating 6), then they are probably easier to tie into Kot's game.

In my opinion having a contact from TriCity would be directly contradicting Kot's stipulation that your character does not have any solid knowledge of TriCity.

My suggestion would be to upgrade your contacts to rating 6 connection to make things smooth. It would only cost a few BP's, and it's not like we are tight on BP's with these characters. In that way, you would not have to change much about your character's background that you have already written.

About the lifestyle thing, if we are an elite team being recruited and smuggled in from international locations, I am imagining we are all gonna be holed up in a safe house somewhere. I would think that would be smarter than trying to own a condo or a house in Tri City while you are trying to lay low and not let anyone know we are there, but... hey, that's just my thought process. I could be completely wrong.

Well, they don't have to be 'international'. If they have a fitting modus operandi, they can work in TriCity also. As i wrote, matrix junkies, software specialists, bloggers, smugglers, weapons dealers, and people who usually don't care about borders would be almost as useful, as in Seattle.

You are a team, but you're not being smuggled as a special ops squad. Someone wants this job to be done by outsiders, and let's say your characters need a little... vacation. Why? That's for you to decide. It's just that somebody decided to take advantage of the fact, but doesn't have enough connections to do so in a professional way, and you'll be deployed in TriCity with minimal resources, and contacts. Story-wise, let's just say that your runners don't have the luxury to say no, and the mission seemed like a good idea at the time...

I thought you'd find it cheesy. I know that's an overused way of getting the characters cut out of their usual place. That's why i suggest dropping Contacts you don't think you can use in-game. This way you can focus more on skills and gear. The same with 'local' merits, like Home Ground.
This also means that you luggage will be limited by how much you can easily carry.

Oh no, I don't find it cheesy at all.

Hrm... I wonder if I should drop my contacts, then... I'll check it out...

Edit:

I went ahead and followed the GM's advice with my contacts. I deleted most of them. I know, I'm hard-headed, but I do listen to reason... eventually.

I decided to keep my international fixer just because I wanted some in-character way of receiving the job info, but from what Kot has been saying, that is not a requirement. It sounds like we will receive an in-character reason for doing the job for free.

Background

Those that know Eva, say she was born under a bad moon, or bad sign, 6 months after she was born, her and her father barely missed a corporate strike team.  During the fire fight however, her mother did not get missed, widowing her father, and forcing him to ask for help in hiding from people he really did not want too...his wife's family.  Eva's mother was Japanese, and a younger daughter of a Yakuza soldier, which made things...complicated.   In an effort to provide a life for himself and his daughter, he turned to Shadowrunning.  he was refined, well spoken, and had made a good deal of contacts as a corporate Johnson, now he was on the other side of things.

Her life growing up was complicated, Dad would bring these...interesting individuals bye, Trolls, Orcs, dwarves, riggers, mages, adepts, deckers, Shadowrunners all.  He had to also be gone a lot, so she spent time with her mother's family, as she got older, she understood why they were less than kind to her father, he was an orc, but that didn't matter, even when he re-married, he was her dad, but in temperment, Father and daughter were far apart.  He wished to talk first, negotiate, Eva's first instinct was to fight, especially when her father was the subject of ridicule.

As she got older, she took an interest in what dad was doing, he'd begun fixing and being a mr. Johnson again.  When she hit 18, she began assisting her father, with some implants, she acted as his bodyguard, and later, as a face herself.

I'll do up a Merc then (assuming I've a spot here). Going for a white Afrikaner type for flavor.

I have a 500BP Adept Medic, rating 9 First aid and Medicine, unusual wepons though, Two Billhooks on chains used like kusari-gammas but chained to their holster, not each other. They were made with my last GMs permission as they're Weapon foci -and- weapon Commlinks (with Personalities), given to him by an arms cartel leader contact (6/6) as a gift for saving his son after some drugged up gangers mugged him.

(apologies for spelling/grammer, id do better in game, its 4:37am here, fragging cold and my hands are going numb as I type. To sleep I go.)
