So if a drone has an availability that lets it be legal for character generation ( ie <=12) but comes with some equipment that has a higher availability than that, is that drone legal to buy in character generation?

Examples:  Steel Lynx is availability 10R but comes with a 14F Heavy Weapon mount.  NEOnet Prairie Dog is 12F but comes with a rating 6 Area Jammer (avail 18F)

RPG mechanics exist to give structure and consistency to the game world, true, but at the end of the day, you’re fighting dragons with algebra and random number generators.

A drone that had the weapon mount stock, and was 12 or lower availability would be chargen legal. A drone modded to have the 14F weapon mount would not. That gets by under a 'package' deal, basically. Also, the fact that the mount will almost certainly be very visible, especially with a weapon in it, which means it is not nearly as big a concern as someone concealing a weapon mount in a smaller drone to get through security.

Kindof like how in 4th it was possible to buy a rocket launcher and (dumb) rockets to use at chargen, but honestly, what kind of mission are beginning runners going to use that on that they won't be calling down WAY more heat than they need to with. (and a shoulder-fired missile launcher is NOT discrete to carry around)
