Thanks!

And of course Aztechnology is stirring up trouble; they excel at it! Of course, the shadows are always long, and the nights are increasingly full of terrors. Are any of us truly safe when the megas get involved? I think not...

Hey all!

First time poster that is coming back to Shadowrun after playing it back in the '90s in the days of SR2. I've continued to buy supplements and various editions (decreasing through time--I've got a handful of SR5 materials but no SR6).

I'm trying to get back into it now, but while my players want to stick with SR2 history but they're obviously kind of interested in SR4 technologies/etc.

Any advice would be welcome!
Generally confuggled.

Welcome Kage2020!  FWIW, several years ago I came back to SR after having been away since 2e. I decided to jump to 5e and have been happy with the decision;  I don't think the writing is as compelling as 2e, but it it is a much more robust rule system!

If you do want to stick to the 2050s, for one of 4e or 4e there was a supplement for doing exactly that (has retro gear to new rules, etc).  Some searching on drivethrurpg should find it.

Welcome back, Kage2020!

The book Beta is talking about is Shadowrun 2050, I highly recommend it!

Also, be careful of the technocritters in the far corners of the boards, they haven't been skritched in a while and are prone to glomping on random passerbys.

Good evening,

Kage, welcome back.

Lukas, welcome as well.  I think you will find this board is a great place to ask questions and learn about SR.  So, as you get use to things feel free to search the forums and ask any questions you want.

Regards,
SL

Welcome! Glad to hear it, hope you have many, many more good times yet to come in our shared hobby!
RPG mechanics exist to give structure and consistency to the game world, true, but at the end of the day, you’re fighting dragons with algebra and random number generators.

Welcome, Imposterrr (If that's who you REALLY are)!

Get a feel for the boards, don't be afraid to ask questions, and watch out for the hellhounds. They've been a bit needy lately since their favorite toys wound up burnt to a crisp.
