So I've been conducting a busman's holiday and spending time getting back up to speed on the wonderful Shadowrun universe. While I used to be able to quote history, stats and rules from memory, that was back in the 2nd Edition era.

Reading through the Matrix section and I want to see if I've got this right. An Agent's Response is based on the node he is in, if he's in the Ares central servers it is a 6 but if he's hiding in a toaster it's 1. Next, the Node's Response is affected by the programs running on Agents in its node.

So if you're a Dec... Hacker in a hostile node and facing some nasty Black IC, wouldn't a fully valid tactic be to drop an Agent and tell it to load as many programs as it can? This would slow the node and thereby the Black IC. Right?

I believe so: They're essentially DOSing themselves to keep you out. The disadvantage being that they're DOSing themselves. ;)
