I assume this would go here, but if not, someone with the Power of Grayskull can move it.

Anyway, what are your favorite characters?  Whether it's just a baby you've pained over and tweaked for years or some amusingly bizarre lunatic a friend made, everyone has a favorite character or two.

One of my favorites is a weapon specialist my gf made.  She was a chain smoking, alcoholic, motorcycle riding, gun and bomb obsessed troll named Petunia.  Or "The Big P."  She had a broken off horn that was replaced with a hollowed-out prosthetic used to hold spare ammo or liquor and never carried less than six guns and at least as many knives and/or grenades.

I have a pair of characters I made that I'm obsessed with.  I've tweaked them both off an on for a long time and stuck very close to their concepts.  The first is an escaped research subject that was genetically modified in the womb and lives on the streets.  I made sure to give him only stuff he could have reasonably carried and stolen from people.  The other is an insane dwarf chemist that was messed up both physically and mentally from all the chemicals he had worked around and inhaled.  He also only used chemicals he made himself as weapons, loading them into gas grenades and dart gun rounds.  They're both kind of hard to run at times, but a hell of a lot of fun and very interesting to use.

EDIT
Fixed some typos and similar.

One of my favorite character in second edition was a cross between a bodyguard and rigger. She was deathly afraid of copter or rotor driven vehicles ever since she was in a bad accident while driving one. She still had connections with the corp she left and a standing invite from her former boss to come back if she wanted too.

She totted an enfield shotgun and had a bit of an attitude. She was just a blast to play and I had put a lot of time into the in depth background which gave her a life of her own in many ways

"It's not being seen that is the trick."

Ooooo nice thread Monky!

Ashe Ravenheart - By far my most favorite character of all my games. To the point that my best friend (and most-often DM) and I have a running joke that if a game's going off the rails for whatever reason, we comment that "It needs Ashe". He started out a half-elven ranger of Mielikki in a home-brewed campaign. Named after Ash Williams, I've been playing him, off and on, since the mid-90s. He holds a special place in my heart due to two things:

1) He was a part of a two separate campaigns that went from 1st level to 19th level (in 2nd Edition AD&D). During that time, there was great heartache and terrific comedy. It started off with him and his best friend in the game taking on a dragon at 2nd level because they found a sword of dragon slaying and some magic armor right outside of said dragon's cave. Miraculously, we survived due to a Monk that had recently met with some kobolds, who were brewing kobold ale. The monk literally ran up the back of the dragon and threw a tankard of ale down its throat just as we were on our last HP and it was getting ready to finish us off with some fiery breath. After cleaning dragon brain matter off of ourselves, the first purchase I made with the hoard was a everful tankard, which I filled with kobold ale (Game stats - 1 sip, automatic Con check or automatically drunk [in 3E, this changed to a Fort DC 25 or automatically drunk]).

2) The second reason is the sheer volume of Ashe's history. After he reached level five, Mielikki had taken notice of him, making him an agent of hers through the multiverse (not as glamorous as it sounds. Just meant he was transported where she wanted him and he natural lifespan was lengthened. No special powers... ). The real fun part was when I was running a group through the Comyr/Shadowdale/Anauroch adventure trilogy and I used Ashe as an NPC for the Shadowdale part. The group was very much a Monty Haul party and realizing that there was a powerful artifact in the book, I wanted to make sure they didn't try to claim it. So, Ashe claimed in instead... ;)

KageZero - One of my oldest SR characters and my alter-ego over on Virtual Underworld 93. A Mystic Adept that lost his hand doing a high-stakes job. I'm putting together his SR4 stats for the Character forum. I wrote him up as the great-grandson Bruce Lee, so I have fun with that too... ;)

Thanks, Jack.   ;D

My favorite D&D characters have to be this group my gf and I made as a joke:
Hortence: A crazed, scythe wielding dwarf with a teal mohawk.
Olga: A half-orc cleric with terrible acne that thought her pimples spoke the secrets of the universe to her.  Her battle cry was, "For my pimples!"
Pepito: A halfling rogue that thought his hat was alive and talked to him.  He even painted a smiley face on it and tried to feed it.
Duane: A human wizard.  The only sane one.
All but Duane worshiped a goddess we made up named Falafella, the goddess of strangely named foods, and they thought Duane was the messiah and followed him around much to his annoyance.  They constantly got Duane in trouble with the law, with cults, and with everything else.  But they also managed to get him out of it just as often.  God they were fun.

I HAVE A MINI OF THIS DUDE!

Well, okay, he's got an axe, not a scythe, but I painted the mohawk teal. Heh... like 15 years ago. Oh, and he's only wearing a loincloth.

Having run games for the most part I only really have one char I ever got to play.
Hoz a fallen from grace ex Lone Star s.w.a.t. officer turned shadowrunner.  A hard fighting, hard drinking, cigar smoking roughneck.

I have lot's of memorable npc's I've had plague my players over the years. Heres a few stand outs from 1st and 2nd edition sessions.
Chalen a fixer from Sprawl sites with Tir connections.
Aticus Dryker a german hitmage.
Mr.Stone & A. Hardcase  a pair of cybered up wetwork specialists.
Niedertracht a vampire originally from Kage magazine.
Cindy Paterson a professional cheerleader from Seattle that was shunned by a player after a serious relationship who years later nearly wiped out the team.

our actions are determined by the roll of a die.

Of course, my first character, Max Anderson, is a obvious choice.

It was my firt Shadowrun game, 3d edition, and our GM felt that there was too much money awarded at character creation (he might be right, but it was a little scarce), so not surprinsigly, three of four players choose Awakened characters. I was the only mundane, with no other cyberware than a cranial bomb, planted by a crime boss who wanted me to track an old friend - long story here.

I had a lot of fun playing this character, it was primarily a Face, and I was working kind as a leader and planner for the group. I had a really fun time with him.

But my favorite is Malinke, a character I created for a campaign in South Africa. It was also a Face, with some cool contacts (a wannabe Hacker named Fat Jack, a local gang...), who was also a illusionist mage... Except he had a nasty experience with magic, and was really reluctant to use it. I pretended I was not Awakened, and used his magic only in dire emergency, and I was reaaly careful to make it appear like I was'nt the one behind it (with spells like Confusion and Phantasm). I managed to save the team's butt numerous time, and when we ended the campaing, none of the characters did know I was actually a magician ;)

D&D Favorite.
It's tough I've had ALOT of great characters! But I have to say it's Malanu. He was a home made Character race called Woodbeasts. They were large, wise, and had fur & horns. Picture Ookla from Thundarr but with a serene wisdom. Malanu was a Fighter Druid, I played him for over 3 years in several different champaigns and eventually he devinely assended. Oh he had class. He had a magically forged Diamond sword, A lizardman henchman he rescued as his tribe was being killed by his own party (Not all Lizardmen are evil)! He has a Saphire Dragon as a Mount, But if you ask Caer it's the other way around.

BattleTech Favorite
Hands down Joseph Mallan. My former 10th Lyran Guard Forest Gump! Technically he was originally a Superhero I created when I was young. He was also my second D&D character. But He has so come to life as a member of the BattleCorps Legion.

ShadowRun
Well as I have only played Usda Beph in the Run, he is my golden boy. I have played Minotaurs before & Usda was going to be Vastio Adustus Domair (roughly Big Brown Cow in Latin) But something snapped and the idea of his name being USDA beef took a hold of me. With the help of many of you runners I have a pretty dang good (just this side of munchy) character that keeps growing into a full fledged character.
Yeah, I'm A Minotaur! You Gotta Beef with that?
I'm a Minotaur not a bully!
I studied at the Rocky Mountain Culinary School.I specialized in Seafood.
My Dad worked out of el Toro In New Mexico.

mmm... BattleTech

Statted' out, never played:

Benjamin Banzai - the grandson of the famous Dr. B. Banzai, Benjamin has come into his own during the years of the Jihad. Having served in the Federated Suns, he's returned home and is trying to rebuild the Hong Kong Cavaliers after they were nearly extinguished during their guerrilla campaign on New Avalon.

Probably my favorite was a 2nd Edition character I made.  He was a very high-strung,chain smoking, caffeine addicted Mage with a little bit of cyber.  He had cyber-eyes, hand razors and a little bit of bioware.  His name was Random because he was pretty unpredictable, and had a bad tendency to be vengeful towards enemies; I.e. If an enemy surrendered but had hurt him too much, he might kill them anyway, but not necessarily.  He was a runner more for the kicks than for the cash.  And he was also just a little nuts.

If we are talking only ones that have been played, here we go.

Shadowrun: Shades. I started him back in 95 during a demo at a local con called BASH Con. Back then, he was a basic razorguy who shot things with a look similar to Grifter from WILD Cats. Anyway, I didnt care for the character as written, but liked the style and when I found a regular group I remade him as a Merc/PhysAd. I played him in 2nd Ed for about five years and he got pretty up there, being the only origional character from the group to survive. When we transferred over to 3rd Ed, the new GM and origional group memeber whos own PC was Shade's best chummer, let me convert him WHOA. I ende up with some MAD stats and wicked speed/initiative. Not to mention I had enough karma to get initiate level four...yes FOUR. I played him for a few more years, rounding out skills and eventualy having to retire him. What I like about him is that his personality shadowed and grew with my own. At fiirst he was nothing more than a hired gun with a lot of ange issues. But evetually, he found things to fight for and instead of playin by other people's rules and doing their dity work, HE was making the rules. I currenty use him as my major fixer NPC in my games

Star Wars (WEG) Ric "Hawk" Hawkins. Ric was a simple brash pilot and was perfectly content flyin a snubfighter/Freighter/etc, in the litte Rebel SpecOps team we had...but NOOOOO, the damn GM just had to have a force user to mess with. So one random roll later, and faster than you can say "Corran WHO?" (Damn you Michael Stackpole!) poor Ric was suddenly Force sensative. The first team all but bought it on Ryloth, and only Ric and two others out of seven survived (hmmm deja vu). We almost ended the campaign, but said GM was reading the X-wing series and guess what..Knight Squadron was born, with Ric, a newly minted "Commander" and jokingly called "the next Skywalker" (but not to his face) in command. What made it fun wasnt the spacebattles, (but they were fun) but it was the rest of the squad and their antics and poor me not able to do what I REALLY wanted to do...Damn dark side.

I'm going to stick to SR since that's what we're here for.. but I would have to say my favorite one so far is the one I'm playing now in tabletop.

"Kitsune", my fox shape shifter mage changling... that's a bit of a mouthful, but the major things I like about him is how he's actually growing as a character. Started out a bit on the shy side and pretending to be someone's pet as his introduction to the team, and now he's the voice of common sense when it comes to our stickier jobs. The most recent one? Job from one source, massive bounty for killing this group of vampires coming in overland. From a few other angles? We're suppose to smuggle a small group into Seattle.

Turned out to be one and the same group. Our combat mage's group wanted them dead because they were going to seattle to kill a mantis bug nest. The same group that was our combat mage's group. Long story short? Combat mage is now without a group, since we killed them all. And yea, of all the initiates, our combat mage was the only one that was NOT invested in as a bug. It was the fox that put the pieces together.

He's also the one that popped invisible right in front of a mechanical guard dog, led folks on a wild goose chase, opened up all the cages of a makeshift lab where they were expirementing with cyber and dual natured critters... he's a trouble maker, and a very fun one to play. Now the group for fun is putting together what is essentially a large radio controlled car for the fox to ride. With a scaled own JATO rocket. Combine that with the fox's levitate spell, and it's a mini jet.

And I thought *I* had the crazy runner.

My favorite is me. I  am gunslinger and bounty hunter. The best part about playing me is that I am uncouth and it hasn't hurt  me too bad, except when i got captured by Ares.
