The original poster didn't want magic or SURGE (too bad, because glamour and kinesics can both give +3 bonuses).
But if you are going to be a mundane, non-changeling character, at least take advantage of 'ware. Tailored pheromones and the vocal range enhancer both give bonuses to social skills, and cosmetic surgery can either raise Charisma (one of the optional rules), or at least nail down the +2 conditional bonus for being physically attractive for you. A few peripherally useful mods such as clean metabolism and dietware will also help you as a face.
I dislike emotitoys/empathy software (too cheesy), although if it is in use in the game, you almost have to have it, just to keep up with everyone else who will be using it. But most GMs seem to either disallow it or nerf it. Pheromone receptors can give you a bonus, but I would be leery of them - in crowded rooms or other places with confused odors, or against someone with tailored pheromones, they can be a liability. In my opinion, the detriments outweigh the sometimes-bonus you get from them.
Fomori is a good choice, not so much for the Body bonus or arcane arrester (although both are nice), but because they are more acceptable to other metatypes without eliciting the "sellout" negative backlash from other trolls that a normal troll would get for doing the same thing with cosmetic surgery (to be less lumpy).
