This is what I have so far. What's the good, the bad, and the "what was he smoking?"
Well... i will try to keep this short
You said you started with the rigger template from the core rulebook, but these archetypes miss all the options from other books. Since you already use program options from Unwired you should really get all the nice toys available in Unwired (or Arsenal)...
Attributes: I would get higher body, but could live with lower logic or willpower. Just for the case you have to fight when not protected by your car. But that's often a personal/roleplaying choice.
Your Matrix Initiative should be listed with 11/3 passes (commlink response+intuition+1), or 10/2 cold-sim
You wear too much armor (-1 agi/rea), getting body 4 to wear a ballistics 8 armor vest would fix this.
Skills: You have groundbased and flying drones, so add aeronautic mechanics for working on the flying ones.
You should have at least some infiltration skill, even if it's only for sneaking around with your Fly-Spy drone.
One point in armorer for modifications wouldn't be wrong. One point in pilot anthroform also wouldn't hurt, no defaulting on this skill...
Qualities:Why Aptitude (Pilot Aircraft) with only 3 points in this skill? It should be Aptitude (Gunnery) or (better) no Aptitude at all.
Codeslinger (Control Device) is really good, as it gives you +2 for
all skills used while command-controlling your drones (control rigs only work for vehicle skills, e.g. pilot and gunnery but no dodge or infiltration)
Cyberware:What do you plan to do with the character anyway...
If you want to be useful in combat (without sitting safely in your car while controlling drones) get some body, optimize your cyberarm (customized/enhanced body could give you 1 point body overall; customized/enhanced agi works for tests only using the cyberlimb.so get a one-handed weapon. It's a bit cheesy, but works with the rules.) Get some additional IP passes. Wired Reflexes are cheap if essence is no issue.
If you don't plan on fighting 'in-the-meat' you don't really need the reaction enhancer as it's doesn't work for matrix initiative.
btw... your cybereyes have a smartlink addon but your weapon does not...
Consider getting a simsense-booster for an additional matrix IP.
Armor:There are better options (more bal/imp, less encumberance) in Arsenal...
At least get lower armor or higher body (every point armor above bodyx2 reduces your physical attributes while wearing the armor)
Weapons:Add a smartlink. Think about using a one-handed weapon (see above), SMGs aren't normally fired with on hand, allthough Arsenal even allows wielding one in each hand^^
Commlink:The commlink itself only has Signal and Response, you need to buy an operating system
or choose Custom OS and buy System and Firewall seperately.
You should really use skinlink on your 'link and every other electronic device you carry. Deactivating the wireless function makes them much safer. (a smartlinked weapon for example can be spoofed to eject the clip by every hacker within mutual signal range and having this range reduced to 'touching your body' instead of a few meters can really make a difference.)
Some additional options from Unwired:
- Response Enhancer: boosts your matrix initiative and is cheap
- Customized Interface: +1 ini
- Optimization (Command): cheap +1 on every test using your command prog
- Simsense Accelarator: +1 matrix initiative pass; half the price of simsense booster (see cyberware), but availability 14 (so you need the restricted gear quality to start with one). Both can be combined for 5 matrix initiative passes... Remember you must spent one pass per turn piloting your drone to avoid crashes. So if 3 initiative passes are normal in your groups you need 4 matrix initiative passes for the same effect.
Gear:Rating 3 Autosofts cost 1.5k ¥, Rating 4 autosofts cost 4k ¥. With so many different autosofts getting them to 4 is really much money for just one additional dice. Autosofts like all programs are capped by System anyways, so you would need to up Pilot/System and Response to 4 on every drone.
Most groups ignore the malware/virus rules from Unwired but getting Viral Resistance 6 for your Analyze and Purge program never hurts.
Get mute-option for Exploit. You can have ergonomic programs up to your response running, so use this on every program that should normally run all the time (analyze,stealth,bio-feedback filter are good ones). Think about running ergonomic ECCM on your commlink and ergonomic, optimized ECCM on your drones against jammers.
Get licenses. Having a fake SIN does no good, if you carry a restricted gun without license.
Having a medkit available is never wrong.
Tools are based on skill/profession, are the ones listed automotive mechanic or hardware? Get the other too.
Get additional tools for amorer and aeronautic mechanic if you choose to up the skills.
Also, rule 9: Never go anywhere without a knife...
Vehicles:Use less drones but upgrade them more... (requires Arsenal again)
Upgrade your vehicles to Signal 5. It's not that expensive and without it your commlink's Signal 5 doesn't do anything.
A body 3 roto-drone can carry 9 points of normal armor (hardened as per vehicle combat rules).
The weapon-mount makes the roto-drones illegal to own and use. There are better drones with weapon-mounts included that are restricted, so can be used with proper license (Ford LEBD-1 (Arsenal), Ares Guardian (This Old Drone; needs to be upgraded to 'modern' standards but comes with body 4 -> can get 12 armor)
A fixed mount on a big groudbased vehicle isn't that useful for hitting anything. Get a flexible one (needs Restricted Gear quality) or none at all...
All in all i feel you need to focus on some role.
If you want to provide transportation for your group and stay behind supporting them with your drones get as much additional dice/initiative/initiative passes for drone controlling as possible. You can up your hacking skills with implants etc. (Encephalon, Pushed transgenics for example) and don't really need physical attributes/skill this much. Be aware that some GMs (and players) think it's cheesy to stay safely behind while others take more personal risks, so plan for problems (guys tracking your signal to your van for eample; so up your vehicles sensors/armor/passenger protection so they will not surpise and geek you easily). Also plan for situations when your hacking skills are needed on location (no wirelss access, low signal to make hacking from outside impossible) and try to avoid them as much as possible (e.g. repeater drones, wireless adapters etc.).
Or plan a completely different 'in meat' role... Get higher physical attributes/combat skills, get higher normal initiative/initiative passes and accompany your group in person while controlling supporting drones via AR.
EDIT: Added some points, corrected some spelling mistakes.
