Holy hell!? they changed the rating limit on the bow then added that broken thing? I'm not working the numbers on that. We all know it's ridiculous. Although it kinda makes me want to give one to a bear shifter... >:^)

Is firing a bow counted as 'use simple object'? because if it is (and lets face it, actually firing a bow (not drawing and aiming, which are probably counted as ready weapon) is pretty damned simple.

If it is, then the 0.25 point adept power Nimble Fingers allows you to use it as a free action.
If you can convince your GM that Initiating an ambush means you're not actually engaged in combat until your enemy reacts (good luck with that one) then multitasking adept power gives you another two free actions per initiative pass, allowing you to: Ready weapon (free), use simple object (free), Ready weapon (free), use simple object (simple action), Ready weapon for next turn (simple action)

because if you're going to break something, break it good and hard.

Actually, it's Nock-and-Draw for Ready Weapon, then Aim-and-Fire for your Ranged Attack... however, you can still take one rank of Krav Maga, which lets you get the "Ready Weapon as a free action" ability.

Also, you might be able to convince a GM that if you have the "Focus" Amp installed (nullifies DP penalties due to combat) that you don't count as being in combat... especially if you're sitting back and bow-sniping.

On Page 311 under mounts it states that projectile weapons can mount smartlinks and laser sights (that's all they can mount though).

Don't forget personalised grip.

All pretty solid advice, thanks. I do work under the sway of a possession spirit, so Krav Maga and such may not immediately apply, at least until Channeling. (the character is already in-play and starting to pick up more "primitve" weapons due to rp reasons) That's fine though, gives me more to look forward to.

If your strength is high enough then don't discount simply throwing whatever hard, semi-aerodynamic objects are nearby at people. Sure it lacks the range and raw power of a bow, but beaning someone with the paperweight on their desk is better than nothing, right?

It will certainly come into play at one point ^^ Though there are some things to be said for a force 5 stunbolt, too...

Just get a normal bow with powered break down and Lv3 ceramic parts and its pretty undetectable and assembles fast in a crunch, and other then internal smart link you got nothing else to use the capacity on anyways.. Honestly getting your arrows through security is a larger problem. Bows can be smart linked and after that you get an MSRI program outta war and watch the gun bunnies cry when the trog with full body armor and a shield that has walked through their hail of gun fire like it was an afternoon rain shower falls over dead from one salvo with an arrow through the heart. Bows have their limitations and you gotta spend points on the martial arts to let you ready as a free action but once you do that and get MSRI you can honestly be pretty scary with a bow if your stats back it up.

DM ruled that ceramic parts weren't needed (since it doesn't have to be made out of metals) and that personalised grip adds +1 to its dice pool, like it does to melee weapons, so I took that.
