[6E] Please Help with TM and Rigging

(1/2) > >>

yrtalien:
In order to drive a drone you need a Control Rig correct?

Under The Basics on p196 it says "Being a rigger means
having a vehicle control rig (or being a technomancer
with the right complex forms)."

What are the right Complex Forms because as far as I can see you have to have and essence eating VCR or nothing.

Can someone give me an  example of how a Technomancer rigging would look?

Thank you in advance

KarmaInferno:
Not exactly. There's a typo/error.

The Technomancer *Echo* that emulates a level 1 Control Rig is named Machine Mind.

It is not a Complex Form. At one point in development, it WAS a Complex Form, but that was changed - but they missed changing the reference to this in the other chapter.

Being a TM rigger is mostly similar to being any other sort of rigger. Major difference being TMs do not have easy use of AutoSofts or other rigging related software - they can use a single program by taking the Emulate complex form for that program, but do not otherwise have program slots.

They CAN use an external RCC and gain use of that RCC's program slots and software sharing. But if they use the RCC directly, they lose use of their Living Persona and basically become a non-technomancer. If they have the Living Network complex form and use the RCC in slave mode, they still have use of their Living Persona, but the RCC's noise reduction feature only applies between the RCC and it's slaved drones/vehicles, not between the TM and the RCC (Which only really becomes an issue if the RCC is not carried by the TM directly, like if it's built into a car or something).

Aside from that, a nitpick, to RIG requires a Control Rig or equivalent. Rigging is not the same as just controlling or driving. It is the act of mentally jumping into the drone or vehicle, such that you effectively BECOME the vehicle. It's air intake system is your lungs, wheels are your feet, sensors are your eyes, etc.

You can also control a drone or vehicle via regular manual control via the steering wheel or whatever, or remote control which is like playing a video game. These methods do not require a Control Rig.

Is this intended to be an actual Thing?

Well, you need Living Network to establish a Personal Area Network (PAN) using your Living Persona. Which is necessary to slave any devices to said Persona. 6E no longer insists that Master Devices cannot also be Slave devices. So an RCC can be slaved to another network while still maintaining it's own network of drones/vehicles.

This differs from 5th edition, where an RCC could not be a slave device while also serving as the Master hub for vehicles.

Yes, bur you lose most if the RCCs functions since the LP overrides the device persona ... all you basically gain is the ability to control multiple drones
