How big are these items?  Nothing in the book says.

Is the chainsaw the size of a real life chainsaw?  Or is it the something smaller like maybe a Ripper from Fallout?

Is the miniwelder the size of a real life portable welder?  Ie a foot long tip and hose attached to a big ass tank?  Or is it smaller and more compact like the size of a big pen?

Yeah, that one from Aliens is what I always figured they were like. As for the chainsaw, while you can get small ones today they are still fairly big:

The picture under the Black and Decker (second heading down the page) is probably about the size of one, I would think.

Yeah, I always thought of it as being like a compact electric chainsaw in terms of size/weight

For the chainsaw?

I guess it would depend on how big or small you want it to be :p

I have a 36in one for trees and firewood. And I have a 6in one for butchering moose and elk...

Not sure about the weights.... the 6in one maybe 8lbs.... the 36in one might be 25lbs ? (That seems high to me however)
Where am I going? And why am I in a hand basket ???

Remember: You can't fix Stupid. But you can beat on it with a 2x4 until it smartens up! Or dies.

The picture in the book makes it look like it has about a 16-18 inch bar, just based on its proportions relative to the motor/handle.  Given that its primary purpose is cutting through fences, walls, barriers, and the like, rather than trees, that seems like an appropriate length.

You probably can buy it in any number of different bar lengths and motor sizes if you have a reason for your character to care.
