Hey guys!

First time playing the game this weekend - 2 of us in the group have never played before, and 2 played the previous edition but are mostly new to it also.One guy (as far as I understand) knew the previous edition very well.
As a result, because  we are mostly noobs (and couldn't quite get our heads aroudn character) creation, we've opted to use some of the sample characters for our first game.

I have gone with the technomancer - but: it lists a complex form "Data Mask", which I can't seem to find anywhere, we were thinking to run it like the Magic ability "physical mask" (only inside the matrix) as seen on page 291 ; is this viable? Or are there proper rules for it?

It may sound strange but the sample characters are not rules legal. Take a look, they are fixed here, and show that thread to your friends too.
As for Data Mask, - I believe it is called 'Static Veil' correctly.
