I've expanded the back story to involve the Rolling Thunder go gang of Puyallup.

After the Great Ghost Dance,  the Salish invited the metahumans (and the Crow) into their lands to help repopulate and otherwise recover from the multiple volcanic eruptions.  The Salish have never had a problem with the concept of slavery, so these newcomers were little better than serfs.  The Crow however brought a tribal unity and got full tribal status early on.  That spurred other groups to stand together.  Then the Sinserach violently seized the area now known as Tir Tairngire, the Salish put a stop to that sort of political/tribal dissent and locked in the tribes that exist today.  That included the ragtag group of Orks, Trolls and Dwarves known as the Cascade Orks.  Keep in mind that these metahumans weren't Natives, they were refugees from the inner cities of North America.  The dwarves, who were born that way and didn't goblinize like orks, got fed up with the direction the orks were going and bailed into the Barrens of the Seattle Metroplex.

In Puyallup, the dwarves used the training in disaster cleanup to clear the area around Thun Field airport.   From there, they got labor contracts to demolish and excavate for the Arcology and the leveling of Cougar Mountain in Bellevue.  In light of the Night of Rage, some of the dwarves became protectors, shuttling the Dwarven work crews out of their base in Thun Field.  They became known as Rolling Thunder and Thun Field became Thunder Field.

The dwarves didn't always get a fair shake when it came to corps honoring their contracts, so some of the labor opted for more direct enforcement.  A schism erupted between the two factions and the Red Hot Nukes got banished from the Thunder Field collective.  Now they patrol the Sammamish valley making a living with their demolition skills.

Just to be clear; what CitizenJoe posted is his own interpretation and not official fiction.

As for Canon on the Red Hot Nukes, I'm not sure. I think they were mentioned in Seattle 2072, but I'd have to double check.

Just barely.  They were listed as an active gang, but no actual text or anything on 'em.

I believe the original Seattle Sourcebook has a color picture of one of the red hot nukes.

Hrrmm... nope.  Lots of other gangs but no picture of the nukes.  They are listed on the table on p. 156.  Street gang, Redmond, gray and red colors, dwarf race.

Is your SOTA just so so?

Does the mere mention of your name no longer send the gutterpunks wetting themselves and just get blank stares?

Has your Go-Gang got up and left?

Don't let you and your associates of the streets fall into the footnotes of History.

Then come to Infinitor* and let our team of PR and social media experts with specialization in Street Press help put the spin back into your group.

Just found two references:

" If you’re looking for big firepower, talk to a dwarf named Otto who’s got a gun shop down at the south end of the second floor.
He’s connected with the Red Hot Nukes and he can get you some major bang-bang. Tell him I sent you.
- Beaker"

Runner Havens p. 117

He's referring to the Crime Mall btw..

"Redmond at a Glance

Major Gangs: Brain Eaters, Crimson Crush, Red Hot Nukes, Rusted Stilettos, the Spiders"

Seattle 2072 p. 114

So they are still there.

Aaaaand they make a major  appearance in Brainscan (in Breakthrough) which shows how they operate and even has interesting stats for Grinder (dwarf adept Initiate grade 4), regular mundane Nuke gangers, Slammin' Sammie &    Portnoy (Nuke Adepts Initiate Grade 1), Lady Fingers & Flo (Nuke adepts Initiate Grade 2).

"Slammin Sam" is a shadowland poster in Renraku Arcology Shutdown, p.37-38.

Lady Fingers is a shadowland poster in Target Matrix. (p.80)

Off to reading.

Soo... In 2e Grinder is an adept initiate grade 4 with divining/sortilege and enhanced centering(technical, B/R) metamagics.

How do I build him in SR5?  Afaics an adept can never initiate into Divination school under SR5. Too bad. Only a Mage or mystic adept could. Right? Also enhanced centering for active/technical skills is only available via Artisans Way although we have the heightened concentration adept power now which is similar to centering.

So if I want to keep the wacky Sortilege by firecracker, do I have to make him a mystic adept?
