Hand Amputation:
I was reading this article that explained "The Scene" today and it made me wonder..

Now, I would never condone this sort of behavior, but it is interesting to read about.

Ach... Makin' me feel old again. Just 'cuz the article's 5 years old and has this in it:

--- Quote ---Finally, thousands, perhaps millions, of copies - all the progeny of that original file - spill into the public peer-to-peer networks: Kazaa, LimeWire, Morpheus. Without this duplication and distribution structure providing content, the P2P networks would run dry. (BitTorrent, a faster and more efficient type of P2P file-sharing, is an exception. But at present there are far fewer BitTorrent users.)
--- End quote ---

I remember Kazaa... before it became a pop-up ad machine.

And this bit:

--- Quote ---including 13 CPUs and 16 external hard drives (for a total of 3 terabytes of storage)
--- End quote ---
Nice to know you can get 3 terabytes for about $225 nowadays (and as just 3 external drives).

Hand Amputation:
It's definitely dated, but still relevant.

I found it while reading this on Reddit:

FWIW: I got my 1.5 TB external HD for $99. whoop.

Casazil:
I spent 700 to build the puter i got and it has a 1 TB drive in it dammed if I'll ever fill the thing though.

DarkLloyd:
thanks for the article man. good read.

Now I have to go sift thru my links and find some older SR in RL stuff.
