Just wanted to make this build sharable. Just a way to make a vehicle focused technomancer pilot that can become a rigger after their first submersion. Please let me know thoughts! Especially on attribute spread, as there is room to play with it and I went a squishier route.  Can trade the secondary car for a doberman drone or two with SMGs.

Karma Spent: 15 on PQs, 10 on Body, 15 on Logic, 10 on Charisma, -25 on PQs = 0 karma remaining
Nuyen remaining: ~4800, needs to be spent on a lot of ammo.

5th edition?

You can only have one persona at a time. You either access the matrix via your RCC (using a device based persona) or your access the matrix via your living persona (using a deviceless living persona).

If you want to get the capability of a RCC (issuing the same command to multiple drones, sharing autosofts, etc) while using your living persona you might want to take a look at the MACHINIST quality from Kill Code, it also give you a positive dice pool modifier of 2 dice when compiling or decompiling machine sprites - cost 20 karma.

Yes 5th.

The RCC is just to host the fly spies and I had the extra nuyen.

Character is a vehicle pilot (to be rigger), running a few machine sprite diagnostics (say 3 for +2 each) to get +6 dice and +3 limit increases to gunnery, driving, EW, and sneaking when piloting the van.

The RCC is just to host the fly spies
You can use mundane electronics, like a RCC, if you like. But while you use a RCC you can't use your resonance abilities. You need to choose between your RCC (reducing noise in your personal network, sharing autosofts in your personal network, issuing the same command to multiple drones in your personal network) and your living persona (access to actions linked to attack, sleaze or resonance).

SR5 p. 251 Using Mundane Electronics
You can use a commlink or cyberdeck if you like. A lot of technomancers do in order to hide their abilities. If you use a persona on a commlink or deck, you can’t use your Resonance abilities. That only works when you’re using your living persona, and since you can only use one persona at a time—well, you get the idea.

If you instead wish your fly spies to be part of your personal network while using your living persona as the master (instead of your RCC) then you need the One With the Matrix quality. If you wish that your living persona get to emulate capabilities of a RCC (to enable sharing of autosofts, for example, while using your living persona) you need the Machinist quality. If you wish to share a specific autosoft while using your living persona you need a specific Program Echo. If you wish to emulate the capabilities of a control rig (so you can jump into devices) then you need the Man-Machine Resonance Interface Echo.

Not tied to the flyspies, just got them for the option. Character is a vehicle rigger, particularly their van.  I can prob upgrade it to an Ares Roadmaster if I just dump the RCC and spies.

However, do you form a persona through an RCC when simply commanding Drones? That is why I have the RCC, so that the flyspies can share the same software and not have them individually loaded. Not planning on piloting them myself in any capacy (Not AR, VR, or jumping-in), simply commanding.

No

Drones, like all wireless devices in SR5, have their own data processing and firewall rating and does not have to be hosted at all. You can also command drones (either instructing them to take actions themselves using their own ratings and local autosofts, directly remote control them yourself using your own ratings and skills or even jump into one to become the drone yourself) no matter if they are slaved or stand-alone.

You don't need a RCC for that.

so that the flyspies can share the same software and not have them individually loaded.
An advantage of using a RCC (instead of using your living persona or a commlink) is that you get to issue the same instruction to multiple drones that are also part of your personal network as one action, another is that it can share autosofts to drones that are part of your personal network and a third advantage is that it can also be used to reduce noise within your network. If you also have a control rig implant a fourth advantage is that you can also jump between your drones in your personal network without first jumping out of them.

The advantage using a living persona (instead of a commlink or RCC) is that you get access to attack and sleaze attributes which for example let you hack and take over enemy drones (by spoofing commands to their on-board autopilot or directly control them yourself with the Control Device action similar to if you had accessed the matrix via a cyberdeck) and in addition to this you also gain access to resonance which let you compile sprites and thread complex forms. But living personas can not be masters in a PAN unless you have the One With the Matrix quality. And when using a living network you also can not issue the same instruction to multiple drones, share autosofts or reduce noise unless you have the Machinist quality (and proper Program Echos). And you also cannot jump in and out of your drones unless you have the Mind Machine Interface Resonance Echo.

To switch persona you need to first reboot (both).

SR5 p. 235 Persona
You can only run one persona at a time; switching requires you to reboot both the device you’re currently on and the device to which you want to shift your persona.

SR5 p. 251 Rebooting Your Living Persona
You can reboot your living persona, if you want.

Thanks for the info, Xenon.

I never got around to reading Kill Code.

So it seems like a more vanilla technorigger should just focus on their primary vehicle and not focus on drones, unless they are built to be pilot/hackers (this build is not).

Or just command individual drones with individual software packages. Or directly jump into a single drone with a control rig echo
