I'm currently reading Street Grimoire for 5th Edition, and I noticed on page 14 under the Arabian Caliphate heading that Ibn Eisa is mentioned.

His assassination in '61 and subsequent rise to power was established in Year of the Comet from 3rd Edition, but according to the new book he continues to lead the Islamic Unity Movement even after being outed as a shedim in '64.

Anyone know if he's still around? If he is, does that mean someone is actually crazy enough to openly accept known shedim in positions of power?

Also remember it was a Master Shedim doing the deed, so it has full access to his memories and knowledge, making it able to step into the role well.

So who is his flock supposed to believe, the crazy Western influenced press looking to undermine their Beloved Leader or the actual Beloved Leader standing there in front of them telling them everything is fine?

Or maybe they do realize that he is the vessel for something bigger from beyond and so long as he gets the job done.....

Control =/= fronts

The revelation of his identity on Shadowland was, well, on Shadowland. And otherwise he only made his true self known to a limited few.

As Sendaz says, who would you rather believe? Especially in the Middle East, which is a whole other level of conspiracy culture compared to the description used in the London chapter of Conspiracy Theories.

@martinchaen It's because the Watergate Rift closure has a direct effect on them, and other reasons.

Ibn Eisa's outing as "something evil" by the Caliph was very public and led to the collapse of various Ibn Eisa-tied governments.  The IUM NIJ still exists, but is now very much an underground movement at odds with just about every power in the ME.  I guess the closest analogy we have is that IUM NIJ is a (Shedim-fueled) Takfir movement.  They don't play nice with anyone.

Sixth world almanac (pg 115) lists the IUM as being used by the Caliph to try and promote better relations between Islamic countries and act to curtail the terrorist activities of the NIJ since 2064, the time when Ibn was outed as shedim. So it is not an underground movement and seems to be in opposition to the NIJ which is where I thought Ibn was.

So I too am a bit confused by the reference of Ibn still leading the IUM when Clutch has him in the NIJ.

Editing error?

Either way, being a shedim has not lost his appeal to his flock whoever they might be.

Oops, I flipped IUM and NIJ in my post.  NIJ is an underground terrorist organization, not IUM.  Global Sandstorm probably has its fingers in both pies, even after "officially" cutting ties with NIJ.

You know Ibn should just try running for president of the UCAS.

They lifted the restriction prohibiting naturalized foreign born citizens from running for the office.  Hell they let a Dragon win a spot.

He just has to go on the 2070's version of Oprah, admit he was a bad boy, cry a bit and get forgiveness from the Trideo Diva.

Afterall, the dead in some parts of the UCAS (and the USA before them) have been casting their vote since the 1930's, it's about time they finally got a dead guy in office. :P

(Appropriate) thread necro!

I don't know if this theory has been floated before . . . what if the gunmen who assassinated Ibn Eisa in 2061 were themselves shedim?
