Many SR events are still awaiting approval, so see this link for a full list of submitted events.

Is this likely the final list?
Trying to figure out how to fit the CRM adventures together in order, and having trouble fitting the slots. (I don't arrive until Friday morning.)
-
Good news, the events have been approved. There's only one, Basic GM Bootcamp, that is still pending.

Yes, that is the final list. Have fun and look forward to seeing you there!
-
Wow those filled fast. Had 14 Shadowrun events in my wishlist (trying to get alt times if the first times didn't go.) Processed at the second the timer hit 0 and 2 came through...one each of the two different campaigns. That was disappointing.
-
Keep in mind, there's probably a reasonable chance at pick-up games happening. In the past, if folks have shown up wanting to play some Shadowrun, GMs have found ways to let 'em sling dice and make the magic happen. Sneaking an extra player into a table if the other folks are cool with it, wrangling up a bunch of "strays" and finding an idle GM to run a game for them, etc, etc.
So don't feel totally disheartened. In the past, at least, Ray and the other convention guys have bent over backwards to let people play. I'm sure they're gonna do what they can this year, too.
Now, don't show up and be all "Critias on the forums said someone would run something for me, GIMME IT," or whatever! Though that would be funny if it's one of the slots where I'm going to try and drop by and run something...;) But yeah, don't take this as gospel or a promise carved in stone, I just want to make sure folks know that they've tried to be flexible in the past, so showing up with a heart full of Shadowrun love and a hand full of generic tickets might be enough to still get in some gaming, is all. :)
-
Stock up on generics. There's almost always a no-show or two for most games, and many GMs will run for an extra person.
Also the plan is to have a floating GM around most times, so if there's enough generic tickets looking to play, they may be able to get another table going.

I once ran a one-shot with 12 players. It worked out pretty well, too--I was leaning a lot on my experience running Amber Diceless and LARPs, but it worked. Got yelled at by management, though, so that won't be happening again (honest).
If you're looking for something Shadowrunny to do at 1pm on Thursday, there's always this (https://www.gencon.com/events/40268).
Not to mention CGL's got their What's Up with Catalyst Game Labs? (https://www.gencon.com/events/46981) at 11am on Friday and What's Up with Shadowrun? (https://www.gencon.com/events/46983) an hour later, plus the always hilarious Whose Run is it Anyway? (https://www.gencon.com/events/45147) on Saturday at 8pm.

Hell, last year I ran a table of 8 generics that just wanted to play. ;)
-
Yeah, Droz, Time Patrick, Tinner, and a couple others really stepped up last year. I think we ran around 8 or so extra tables.
-
That sounds promising. What are the chances that some of the unofficials might be CMP's? (I'm really interested in seeing a full plotline of CMP's and how they fall out.) Or is it usually off the cuff stuff.
By the way, of my group of 4, my 2 sessions I got (which I threw back one, since it was part 3 of a 4 part series) were the only ones picked up at all.
I guess that says a lot for the popularity of Shadowrun right now, which is a good thing. (I thought it was true dungeon I'd have trouble picking up, but got my first choice on both my sessions for that!)
-
It's usually a combination of what the GM in question has available and is familiar with, and what the players want to play.
-
Speaking of, is there anything official about an SR meet and greet this year?
-
I know I'd have a brew with some of you.
-
But not all of us? :'(
-
I'll buy you a brew if you promise to include spiels for your product the entire time we drink.
-
But not all of us? :'(
No great loss - it's American beer, after all.
-
Such a meet-n-drink would be very relevant to my interests.
-
But not all of us? :'(
No great loss - it's American beer, after all.
I prefer it to the warm piss of imports.
2 dollars for a cold pint, all I need, all I want. Miller, Coors, Bud. Works for me. Want something fancier? Stick your pinky out and drink wine.
-

Not all American beer is bad. Shiner has a couple good varieties, and I hear Sam Adams is pretty good.

Sam Adams is good and I have recently discovered Yuengling (sp?). I don't care what anyone says, it IS good...
But seriously, I'll talk to some people and see if something official-like can be done.
-
Sam Adams has many very good beers. And there's nothing really wrong with Bud/Miller/Coors, but they're very... meh, really. Not bad, just a bit boring to me, although they do make a solid hit at times. Budweiser Black Crown, for example.
But in general I'm more of a cider and whiskey kind of guy, with beer more of an occasional thing.
And definitely second/third/fourth-ing a request for word on any official plans for any kind of GenCon mixer.
-
A Cider Drinker, eh? (http://youtu.be/mIBMt28d1FA) ;D
-
Yeah, count me in if something actually happens. I'm not really a beer drinker at all (never learned to like the taste). I'm with Valashar, definitely a cider drinker, and like whiskey/scotch/bourbon as well.

Ten Fiddy? the stout with the consistancy of motor oil that all my stout loving friends swear by?
-
I hope the meet and greet happens this year. Last year I learned a valuable lesson about rules, grenades, and armoring yourself with infants.

Like a fine bottle of Night Train Express or Thunderbird?

Wow...I wish I had been able to make the meet and greet last year, if that is stuff that popped up in the discussion.
Who taught about the armor?
-
I'm trying to get an answer from the Powers That Be, but if all's kosher, I'll see what I can do about getting a Meet and Greet set up.
-
Matchboxtext 20: If you're serious, try contacting Scotty's Brewhouse[/quote] and see what they can do for a meetup and gathering.
Traditionally we have used Claddagh, which I like, but it's always packed and they won't put tables aside for us. Scotty's seems a bit more gathering friendly, so maybe we can do something there.

You just HAD to use that name....
Heh
Thanks Bull, I'll check them out and see what they say!
-
Keep us in the loop, Mystic. You da man!
-
Woot! Fingers and other appropriate appendages crossed!
-
OK,
A bit of an update here on the meet and greet. I've talked to a few places, got an idea of how receptive they are, yadda yadda...But I'm wondering how much room would we really need? A few tables, an entire "private" area? That's kind of the biggest thing right now. So, if anyone can give me a ballpark figure to work with, that would be great. I'd also like to know how many CGL people would show to this.
Thanx all.
-
I'm in. There is good to be eaten and beers to be consumed!
-
I'm in.
-
I'd be in but I'd like to know when it's going down (date and time). I'm coming from Montreal by car, it would tell me if I can make it.
-
I am also in, and would be bringing a small group (4-6) with me.
-

I know we're looking at Wednesday evening, but I don't think we've got a specific time yet.
-
Oh yeah, I'd definitely be in for this. But though I'm with a group, I dunno if anyone else is interested.
-
For anyone who knows how the layout will be for GenCon (I haven't been since it's moved to Indy)...I am arriving on Friday morning, have my badge and my ticket for a Shadowrun Mission session, and will need to get to the session quickly to make the game.
1) What should I expect to have to go through to get in?
2) What are the directions to get to the game session?
3) How long should I expect from stepping off at the convention center, to being able to get to the game?
I'm trying to decide if I have time to stop at my hotel before the convention center or if I should head straight for the session when I hit town, since I only have a couple hour window.

All the Shadowrun events are in the miniatures hall again this year, which is kind of annoying (but also kind of useful). We're supposed to be in one corner though, so hopefully that will help a little with sound issues.
The Mini's Hall is in the main convention center area. So 5-10 minutes tops, depending on crowds and stuff.
I don't know exactly where we'll be in the halls yet, but we should have plenty of signage and stuff to make it easy to find.

I remember last year, it was less noisy in the CGL games area then the previous year...but it was a trek! Upside was it wasn't that far from
the snack vendor in the hall.

OK, in case this didn't get around:
Scottie's Brew House, 8/14/13. Now the "official" time is between 6:30 and 7:00. But because Scottie's is an official sponsor of GenCon and because of the sheer business that week, they can't take any reservations or private parties. So it's going to be more of a come-as-you-are party. But, they know we're coming, we just can't get any special treatment. *shrugs*. But that's where everyone will be!

Thanks. Sounds like I should have plenty of time to drop off my bags and grab a quick shower before coming to play. I much prefer it that way. I'm sure the other players will too.

Has a list of Gen Con exclusive items been posted? I work at a local gaming store, so I'm prioritizing my purchases :-)
-
You might want to check out the CGL site (http://www.catalystgamelabs.com/2013/08/01/catalyst-at-gen-con-2013/) for a list of what all they'll have there.
-
Looking forward to seeing what gear cards and spell cards are like.
-
OK, Mission at GenCon question...
Should I bring dice, or will dice be at the table? Trying to decide if I need to pack a boatload of dice with me, or if that's some weight I can cut out.

I saw that page when it popped up in my Facebook feed, but it doesn't say what's actually con exclusive (last year they put up a page that was more specific...I suppose part of the problem is just not knowing what's going to be ready & available from the printers).

Not a boatload, but some would be necessary.
-
For some players they think it's an impossibility, but I keep tell them that it IS possible to roll dice more than once on a test if you have fewer dice than your pool. Roll 12 dice, count up hits, then roll the last 4 you need and add those hits. :)
-
But why would you if you can roll 16 dice? :P
I got sets of 4 colors of 9 dice each for players, so they can use 1 color for attribute, 1 for skill, then the last two for extra bonuses. But yeah, all you need is a few dice and counting the amount of hits and 1s before rolling again.
-
Just saying that if space is an issue, or you don't have all your dice with you, or whatever. Drives me nuts when someone slows down combat even further to ask if tehy can borrow a couple more dice from someone for their roll. If they'd just have rolled and rerolled, we'd be done already! :) Plus, you don't ever roll another man's (or woman's!) dice, it's just not right!
-
My 4th Edition characters were getting so unwieldy that a tablet-based electronic dice roller with auto-hit-count started becoming almost a necessity.
Not as satisfying as a big fistful of dice, but a LOT faster than rolling rolling rolling then counting counting oh wait those exploded roll more ahah no I need to edge roll more.

*shifty eyes* So..um...yeah...I actually had someone bring a troll tank sam to a table that I invoked WAR!'s "Large Dice Pools" rule for his
soak rolls...

I don't think that I will ever need 16 dice without lots of positive modifiers. However, my question is answered. It's BYOD, so I'd better find somewhere to pack some dice on my trip. (I've never brought dice to GENCON before.)
-
My dice are set. Picked up Amazon's last two boxes of Pegasus' SR dice tins.

You could just buy some dice AT gencon. I know in the past there have been some fairly interesting specialty dice available for some games.
-
I have more than enough dice. Getting more is the bottom of my to do list at GENCON.
I was mostly hoping to cut weight for travel, since I'm packing 3 days of stuff into 1 backpack.
-
See y'all in Indy. I'll be playing Montag (Human Mystic Adept/Cheese Monkey) or Spatter (Troll Sam - Heavy Weapons/Blade Melee).
-

At least with the new Mystic Adept rules, it's only light cheese now. I was imaging tables full of cheese monkeys (including me).
-
Many of the GMs (myself included) bring boatloads of dice so you don't have to! If packing dice is troublesome, you'll certainly be able to find some as needed. That said, sometimes you might have to hunt them down for a few minutes...
-
Make sure to hunt them down with a Rating 6 bow at most, keeping availability rules in mind.

Agreed. The new rules really help balance the Mystic Adept. Heh, I figured Gen Con was going to be MysticAdeptRun. I was actually going to try and find a t-shirt that said "Cheese Monkey". :)

Since things are set up today, I'm wondering if we know a hall number or room number at this point? (Want to make sure in case I'm on a dead sprint to the hall on Friday to get to my first session.)

Until the Mystic Adept changes, I'd have made an argument that that should count as a Shadowrun shirt for NERPS if you were also playing a mystic adept.

Right by the entrance to Hall C, we have the entire front Quarter of the hall.
