Can you imagine a troll comic at his first few gigs?

Instead of rotten tomatoes, the bouncer gets launched at the stage....

For some reason, the stand-up comic in Fallout:  New Vegas comes to mind.

If the Casino hadn't confiscated the weapons, that is...

Haven't got to him yet, but luckily the 10mm Pistol with silencer still classes as a holdout weapon (and thus should escape confiscation). I'm happy to do the deed for you ;)

The comic would be the last person I'd suspect to pull out a Pred4 and start shooting people, regardless of it's 'troll-itude'...

Split this off from the Other Gear Books? thread since I like it but it was waaaaaay too much drift.

Interesting thoughts, because we know of some of the major musical acts, but stand-up hasn't really been talked about in the Sixth World. Probably because comedians come and go so fast, you get whiplash following their careers.

I still like that Rocker concept from CP. Maybe I'll mix it with a comedian that's stickin' it to he man through music and comedy... Ok, that's not sounding so great.

Maybe I'll just make an arcane that seriously influences the crowd up and down and shakes 'em down for money, or just offers awesome diversions everywhere.  I'm envisioning Steven Wright meets Christopher Titus to get that disturbed funny...

Yeah, folks keep saying that, yet he keeps getting included on deals because, well...

He's Crazy.  You tell him to do the most dangerous part of the plan without any clear plan, and he'll do it with a smile on his face!
Title: Re: Sixth World Comedians

I think they only include him so he doesn't kill them for not letting him in
But i guess that might work, I know I still wouldn't run with him though

Hatchetman had to work with that guy that had the snake once, after all...  Jeeze, what a tool.

Problem is, being a comedian, even a bad one, people tend to remember and annonimity is a Runner's best friend. Unless you take a LOT of effort to conseal your identity, I would think it would be counterproductive. And what commedian DOSEN'T want to be known? Being known means more gigs, more money, etc. Not to mention you would need at least a SIN which means you are in the system...

Investigator #1: We managed to get some footage of the team that cracked the vault.

Investigator #2: Hey, I know that face, I saw him at the Laugh Riot 'couple nights ago. Kind of sucked.

Investigator #1: you sure, no one could be THAT stupid.

Investigator #2: Well, we don't have anything ELSE to go on...

Just saying  8)

Oh, right, sorry, no one is looking at their faces.

Thing is, "I know that one."  "How?"  "I could never forget a set of knockers like that.  And her ass..."  "TMI."

More to life than 'Running.

One of the PCs in my group works as a doctor for "Sam's Surgery and Deli", a Shadow Clinic that works primarily on the patch and secure recovery (As opposed to cyber/bio-enhancement) and gets cameos in my stories.

Ah, meatball medicine...and judging by the name, perhaps both!

heh, I can see it now:

Runner One: Ah, 'scuse me. Ah, can I get a couple trauma patches and a Ruben with extra cheese?

;D Sorry, I love that idea. And speaking of businesses, my buddy Jack will always have my thanks for an idea he gave me for my SR campaign setting. The place was a gentleman's club called "Platnum Trollgirls"...yeah, it's EXACTLY what you think it is. Because why should the smoothies have all the fun? Yeah, it is a bit...different, but that's the brillaiance of it. One of Jack's contacts was a club owner, and over time "PT" took on a life of it's own. His troll, Marv, became a fixture...much like Norm from Cheers, but with horns, a bad attitude, and a hand cannon.

I imagine a comic routine with a dwarf and a Sasquatch...kind of like Jay and Silent Bob...except the Sasquatch makes noises and mimics different sounds which the dwarf understands and riffs off of.  Dang....i think i'm gonna use that in a shadowrun.  Like they could be called Hans and Lenny or something.  Like Lenny the sasquatch does all the sound effects for Hans's jokes and they just improvise off each other.  Another twist on that would be that they were huge in 2050 and they totally fell into obscurity and there's some eccentric dragon out there of good taste who's dream it is to bring the old duo back together and the team has to find out what's happened with their lives and convince them to get back together in return for a nice fat chunk of oricalcum.  Maybe they had a falling out!  Maybe it was over money.  Or maybe it was something silly....like Like Lenny wouldn't stop making a Chubaca growl and Hans finally quit because he hated that old vintage flick.  Most likely the best falling out is that corporate interests were trying to tempt Lenny the sasquatch to kick Hans to the curb and go solo and be in the sims and all that.  Maybe Lenny agreed but the solo thing never worked out and he ended up a chiphead radio DJ....and Hans remained hurt and resented at Lenny's betrayal :)  Hey this shadowrun just writes itself!

Just because I love giving out ideas like this...  And it's in my stories anyhow...

Sam was a Rabbi that inherited a tenement after his brother (Who was a Dwarf) died in the Night of Rage warehouse burning, and had a Deli on the ground floor.  Fast forward a few years, and Sam found a sealed off basement that connected the buildings on the entire block.  Crash 2.0 happened, and he found a bunch of doctors that had their SINs corrupted/erased.  Two-and-two make a shadow clinic for the masses.  He also has one floor blocked off from the regular stairwells as a recovery ward.  And, yes, he does hold temple services still, and is probably the closest thing that some Shadowrunners have to a Holy Man willing to look out for their souls and listen to them.

The place never had an official name, and "Sam's Surgery and Deli" was born.

Adding flavor to the Hans & Lenny storyline, it would be cool if Hans's jokes poked fun at corporate culture and were a little bit too subversive.  Media corps didn't like this and thus decided to convince Lenny to kick Hans to the curb and go solo since Lenny was just a bunch of sound effects minus the whole anti-corp jokes thing.  So if Hans comes back, there's a few corp players which don't want his whole anti-corp act, which people love...even corp types can't help busting a gut, to take off again.

I'm picturing something along the lines of Martin/Lewis, where Hans is Dean Martin and Lenny is Jerry Lewis. Lenny is the wacky comedian everybody loves and hits it big in the sims, while Hans is the straight man that drops out to pursue his singing career. By 2072, Lenny is hosting charity events and a mutual friend brings them back together one last time.

Now, the great thing is that the runners have to protect Hans since Lenny's charity runs on live trideo, broadcast by Aztechnology. But the Azzies don't want Hans appearing since he's a bit mouthy about a former deal the two performers cut together back in the 50's which resulted in the accidental poison deaths of a couple dozen ork kids in Redmond. Lenny felt it was an accident, but Hans had some 'runners check it out and discovered that there was some "inconsistencies" in the medical examiner's reports about the levels of harmful agents in their bodies. The only thing keeping Hans safe right now is that he's got the info, but has never shared it with anyone, even Lenny. The Azzies suspect (rightly so) that Hans is getting back with Lenny to give him the evidence live and on-air. Especially since the "accident" is what inspired Lenny's charity work in the first place.
