Help w/ Aspected Sorcerer?

Ok, so I'm trying to create a circus member. He's Egyptian and also follows the same Tradition/Religion. He uses his magic to help him put on shows for the circus, but he's also supposed to be combat capable. I haven't done contacts, but I think hes pretty cool right now. I intend to pick up the Improve Strength spell quickly to help with the range on his bow and damage on his sword. I dropped a couple of points in magic for extra edge because I thought it'd be more useful for him to have the edge being he basically only uses sorcery. Ill use some karma to sustain those buffs so he doesn't get nailed with penalties.

== Description ==
Ramses is a man of average height and build. His old face is wrinkled by time, but the handsome face of his youth hasn't been completely obscured. He has shoulder length black hair which is kept well groomed, and he always wears ancient egyptian attire.

He has a standard armor jacket and ballistic mask if the situation calls for it.

== Background ==
Ramesses was born in Egypt during the 2020's. He had some magical talent, but he never figured out how to use it properly. He took a liking to ancient egyptian history during school, and he was one of the first to begin learning and practicing the old ways as the Egyptian tradition. Eventually, the government cracked down on this practice, and he had to flee the country. What he learned up to then was invaluable to him, however, as was it to many others who struggled to grasp their magic.

Ramses learned some skills skulking around in the shadows and ruins, and he always had a flair for the dramatic so he fell in with the circuis not long after ariving in the UCAS. Using his magic and skills, Ramessess puts on magnificent shows for the circuis audience. Mummies, flesh eating scarabs, chariot fights...anything that gets the crowd out of their seats and cheering. Having a combat capable mage on staff is always a welcome addition for the circuis.

He's been with the circus longer than most, and he's content to stay there. He keeps an eye open for new developments within his tradition, but he doesn't often stray from the Circus unless its for the Circus.

Not sure where your karma is spent, but you have at least 35 Karma spent on just spells. Seems kind of a waste to me. I would honestly just go full Magician at Priority C and take only spellcasting stuff. It ends up with a similar result, but probably way less karma spent. If you are sticking with an Aspected Magician, could you please show where you spent all your skill group points? I'm guessing Sorcery 6 and Athletics 4, but I am not sure. I would also possibly rearrange some of your attributes as well. Even if it's just Intuition 6 and Logic 3.

Sorry, I forgot that Chummer5 doesn't list skill groups or karma expenditures in the text block. I added them manually.

If I change from Aspected to Magician I lose a point of either Edge or Magic. I'd gain 5 free spells, though. I could keep all the spells I have now for 25 karma back.

So swap priorities for 4 magic/4 edge (instead of 5 edge), pick up Increase Strength spell, and add some levels of focused concentration?

I could do the Intutition <--> Logic swap too without much of a problem too. It'd give me an extra drain dice if nothing else.

Yeah, you really wouldn't lose much in terms of magic/edge, since you already have magic pretty low. The main thing is that you get 25 Karma back, which you can either spend on more spells, qualities, etc. Also, the Intuition and Logic swap was for the drain dice mostly. Every die counts when you try to overcast a spell for combat.

Why Armorer-1 at Char-Gen ?   Its just one of those skills that is better gotten later, IMHO.

I'd honestly look at what it is you really want to do with this character.
Do you want to be a Mage, or do you want to be a Circus Infiltrator? 
Because they kind of don't really go together.

That said, I'd probably look at a few changes similar to what was suggested above.

Maybe rework for more Attr points & higher Magic.

Just want to second Tarislar, this character is probably a good representation of what you want while still being very good. You can swap the spells out as you like, but most of them are spells that would work very well for a circus performer: Shapechange, Levitate,Increased Reflexes, Improved Invisibilty

I get where you're coming from, but it doesn't quite fit with who he is : /. Ramesses uses mostly Egyptian themed spells. (Improved Str/Reflexes could come from Osiris, Lightning Ball from Set, Translate from Thoth, etc.). I picked a couple from the preferred spells for the Egyptian Tradition. He also isn't too magically capable (Low Magic/Was originally supposed to be aspected sorcerer). Thats why he uses the bow and the sword. They're the arms his ancestors used, and His sword is actually a Khopesh which is a somewhat curved sword. (Different from a scimatar).

He isn't a standard circus performer who juggles knives and jumps the high rope. He's the Mummy man. If they put him in the big tent, he puts on Egyptian Themed performances whether that be a lion hunt or a raging chariot battle. So he has some acting skills too.

I dropped Palming and Armorer completely. I shouldn't have had it in the first place because youre right he isn't an infiltrator. I used the points to bump stealth because he doesn't have invis, and stealth can be useful :p.

I could drop Focused Concentration down to 3 and unbind my sustaining focus to free up 8 karma if something else would be  more useful. Having both lets me sustain both buffs if I need to, and I could use Focused Concentration for anything.

Is he just not gunna work? I can see how he might be subpar to start, but he should be fun though I think. I could be wrong though :p. My PbPs tend to fall before I get anywhere and I've only really played combat chars in person/Roll20.
