Title: Scripting Crossfire
Post by: Shaidar on <11-15-14/0150:44>
Has anyone toyed with a method to script or tailor Crossfire to more closely mimic the Table-Top SR flow of the run as opposed to the more random Crossfire.

More like Meet the Johnson -> Legwork -> Case the Joint -> Gear Up -> Execute the Run -> Evacuate the Site -> Meet the Johnson/Get Paid.

I haven't even considered trying to do this, but it sounds like it would be pretty hard to do.  You'd have to completely revamp the rules to make the whole thing flow the right way.

If you had one player acting as GM this would be easy, as they could control the story/variables.  Otherwise, a few others have played with ideas like legwork (http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=17992.0 (http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=17992.0)), or designated end bosses (http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=18088.0 (http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=18088.0)), and some official missions limit obstacle cards to a thematic pool (http://cdn.shadowruntabletop.com/wp-content/uploads/CAT27700_Close%20the%20Portal%20Mission%20Card.pdf?4713c7 (http://cdn.shadowruntabletop.com/wp-content/uploads/CAT27700_Close%20the%20Portal%20Mission%20Card.pdf?4713c7)).  All are great tools, but there is even more that could be done to create a scripted narrative.  Now is the perfect time to experiment, just submit any ideas to the Mission Contest, and you could get paid for it (http://www.catalystgamelabs.com/2014/11/03/create-a-shadowrun-crossfire-mission-contest/ (http://www.catalystgamelabs.com/2014/11/03/create-a-shadowrun-crossfire-mission-contest/))!

I'm liking this idea, may play around with it with my group.
I could imagine it being a lot of fun if you have a GM who instead of black market cards is drawing cards from the obstacle and crossfire decks into their hand and playing them against the runners with certain options available to improve synergy and narrative flow.
