Finished it yesterday. It was enjoyable but at times it felt like the writer wasn't really sure where he was taking the story until he figured it out in the last chapters. At least that's how I felt. For instance, re-reading the beginning of the book, the fact that
[spoiler]the shadowman was Lofwyr all along[/spoiler]
doesn't feel right.
But I was relieved that contrary to what the summary made me fear with its mention of the Second World,
[spoiler]It didn't retcon Earthdawn's Fourth World or anything[/spoiler]
One thing that annoyed me a bit however was
[spoiler]the amount of knowledge mere runners and average joes had of previous worlds. Some things they encounter during the story should have blown their minds. But they were like
"oh yeah, it's from the Fourth World, null sheen omae." They seem to be a bit too savvy of these things, you know?[/spoiler]
Still a good book, but as PiXeL01 said, not great as far as I'm concerned. Your mileage may vary, of course
