Title: 5e Initiative trackers
Post by: ScytheKnight on <03-17-16/2034:08>
Been GMing for a little while now and my games are starting to flow a bit better... however there's one point at which the entire game can grind to a halt for 5-15+ minutes, and that's while I'm sitting there trying to sort out everyone's Initiative. There's also frequently issues of participants getting overlooked as I loose track of who goes when.

So just going to put it out there to see if there's any good initiative tracking apps or programs out there. Ideally something that I can just enter the details for each participant, hit a button to roll and auto sort all of them then make adjustments as battle progresses and have the listing update.

Honestly? I just use Excel; has all the sorting you'll ever need, and with columns I just add negatives as they accumulate. Or, if we're using Roll20, the integrated initiative tracker is pretty neat.

Also this, literally three posts down :D

There is NextPass for iOS devices, friend of mine loves it for his GMing.

I am sure for android there are comparable tools, but I got no experience so far.

And my own tool for Windows

I use an index card. I write the characters' names in order around the table, then write the initiative results down. I usually get about 7-8 turns before needing a new card.

I created an Initiate tracker. Feel to free to use.:

My favourite initiative tracker is a piece of paper and a pencil. Write down the initiative numbers with the names of the character. Go down the list. If you have trouble keeping track of where you are, mark it with the pencil, possible by crossing out the initiative that's been used. End of the initiative pass, write down the initiatives for the next pass in the next column. Update initiative with it changes. Keep plenty of space around everything so you can write more down in between everything, like the damage of various grunts and status effects.

It works very well for me, but you need to keep space and mark down everything.

I bought a Starfinder Initiative Tracker set, which works really nicely.
