I know it is early buy wow I am so excited for this one. I have had this feeling that there would be some products dropping before GenCon but was not sure when we would see 2050. Guess I will stop rambling now, have a great day SR community.
-
Ooh. I'm looking forward to this one, as well. Especially if they come out with some kind of conversion guide or converted reprints of old modules. I've always wanted to play through some of those old classic modules like Mercurial or Queen Euphoria.
-
Announced a few months ago along side the Shadowrun Kickstarter. Originally mentioned as a spring release for next year.
Now it seems well see this at Gen Con? 90% done according to recent posts.
I cant believe the community has been so quiet about this, very little info about its production is in the wild.
So many questions.
1. Will magical traditions have separate mechanics?
2. Will missing spirit powers be returned and perhaps "fixed".
3. Grounding?
4. Decking returns will the matrix of old be streamlined and workable?
5. (Put own questions here...)
All this and more done in just a few months? Or was this project in the works for much longer?
-
Project has been in the works since August of last year, more or less :)
Generally speaking by the time a product is announced, it's been in the pipeline for at least a couple months.
-
Not one I worked on, sadly. I got in just a tad too late for that one.
Next time, Gadget! Next time...
-
You could go and convert some of the old modules to the SR 2050 rules... It'd be fun to run through the SCIRE, dodging spiders and Blues with the Resistance. Or to go through Missing Blood and Bug City...
-
I sort of converted the old adventures on the fly, but no real conversion method exists to my knowledge.
-
Already ran both Mecurial and DNA DOA using 4th ed rules. Wasn't too hard.

If you want to try Dreamchipper, take a gander at Twilight Horizon.
-
Actually... that was my next one to look at.
I have Twilight Horizon but I've only had time to take in the highlights.
Thanks Wakshaani

any chance this book will be ready fro Gencon?
If not that then Dragoncon?
-
According to Randall via Facebook, SR2050 went to the printer last night. Odds for GenCon...pretty good, though it might be tight.

Shadowrun on the Print Company to move up the priority of the product?
-
Will gear prices be like they were in SR1? Wired 2 = 400,000 nuyen, gear costing rating x rating in nuyen, etc.?
I liked that economy. It made those higher rating pieces of gear more rewarding when you got them. :)
BTW, this is the first that I've heard of this initiative.
Cool. Cool, cool, cool.
-
For the sake of the game one would hope not. Most implants are expensive enough at higher ratings (too much really) 400k for Wired 2 is ridiculous

I never thought so. Of course, it's what I'm used to.

Pretty sure they commented on FB that they were planning/hoping to have it at GenCon.

My pleasure. My first professional work's in there, waaayy in the back after the actual adventure's over.
I had to give a nod to Dreamchipper, as it's long been one of my faves.
2050's a book that I *know* will be popular locally. Tons of us old farts around here, waving canes at people.

It wasn't that expensive back in third where I started in SR (not counting the Genesis video game), but there were implants that expensive or higher. Move-by-Wire 4 I'm looking at you--that implant was ridiculously expensive both in cost and Essence, especially since it practically required Delta grade to feasibly make use of it.

You know that MBW4 being that ridiculously high was completely deliberate, don't you? You make it sound like it was an accident that it was so pricey; it was not.
-
Don't see how what I said could make it sound either accident or deliberate. All I said was the cost was ridiculous, but then I'm a firm believer in everything being feasibly available rather than costing so much as to basically be a "tease".

Everything is feasable in the world of Shadowrun. if you want MBW4, break into a facility and steal it. Far cheaper than buying it on the street.

So. You steal it. What then?
Yeeeeah...I don't think I would trust 'ole Doc McGuilicutty from around the corner to install ware that requires a team of scientists to set up much less install. You don't get that type of ware from a street doc and I'd be hard pressed to let players get that anywhere but a specialized facility. Probably a beta clinic. Not that it would have to be beta just that it would take that level of expertize (read as a guy with Medicine/implant surgery 5 or 6).
This is a system that should be in an jet fighter, not a human.
-
Not to mention that when it was available, to be feasible to use, it needed to be Delta grade, and with how custom tailored that is, you ain't stealing that.

No, but you can bribe your GM into letting you get one on the cheap in lieu of payment for a big run. ;)

That, Sir, has always been the choice option for runners. Get your Fixer to find someone that needs a favor big enough to get you what you want.
then you just have to see if you can pull off a job that big.

More than 90% done now. (http://www.shadowrun4.com/2012/07/shadowrun-2050-preview-goes-old-school/) ;D

I've been told I can say what part I did.
I wrote the Matrix Chapter.
Or, to be more exact, I smashed the SR1 Matrix Rules and the SR4A Matrix Rules together until it made sense. I used a very big hammer.
And played the Genesis Shadowrun game a lot to make sure I got the feel right. ;D

How much liquor did it take to get it to make sense? :P
-
Ok, so now the big questions...
Can I get this in hardback? And if I want to get copies for myself and my guys(maybe six copies in total) is that possible? And, given that I'm in Australia, am I likely to miss out on anything really really cool? Like limited edition signed copes?
Ps. If I buy a stack, can I ask, please, for a signed copy?
Ok.... Really, really excited!

I was sober when I read and wrote it. I typically don't advocate any kind of drugs that aren't prescribed by a doctor.Ok, so now the big questions...

This will come out in DTF. Ordering in bulk will depend on your FLGS and their distributors (As with any other game purchase.). I have no ideas on what signed copies are going to happen, but I'll be at GenCon to sign if people ask. That doesn't help you, I know, but there's at least an inkling of a chance of SOMETHING. Go bother Jason.Ps. If I buy a stack, can I ask, please, for a signed copy?
Again, Jason.Ok.... Really, really excited!
That's not a question. :P
Hope that helps. ;D

Maybe now that you've had a part in writing TWO of the books, you'll finally find a game where you can actually play, CanRay. 8)

Actually, one of my Players has decided to take pity on me and run me in a 3rd Edition game.

His a celebrity now. Means he can rock up to anyones game and get a seat, even when the tables full.
Then, no matter he does, its ok. Because, his like, you know, Canray and everything. When he roles all ones, other players botch. The chicks dig his troll charisma 1 character, Mr Johnson tips him extra just to camo in the mission, and the team's vehicle is a kitted out Phantom. (PS. liking the Used Car book a lot).
Oh.. and its 2 books and a mission. Don't forget the mission :P
For the Complete Canray Collection:
- Shadowrun 2050
- Safehouses (number one selling book for ... a long time)
- Mission 04-07: Burn - The Heat of Friction
Get them NOW! Before they all sell out! All the Cool Kids have Safe House! Owning Missions makes you more attractive!
Go Now! Don't Question the Logic, Go With The Flow!!! Buy Buy Buy!

Nah, I'd play by the rules, do things straight.
Run things Mirrorshades/Black Trench-coat, until someone does me wrong...
Go out pink mohawk and in a blaze of glory!

I pictured you playing Jayne--basically--when you finally got to play.

Yeah, he's already up on me in book count. I gotta stir it up this fall and start thwacking him. Can't let a dirty UCAS hat get ahead of a proper CAS guy, after all!
Harumph!

Just don't start calling me a "Union Man" and we'll be all right. I know what that means down there. :P

Actually, I disarmed a hostile call back in my tech support days. My accent is very "New Yorker" apparently, and I got a call from the Deep South.
After a few questions from me to diagnose the problem, feeling some hostility, he finally came out with a shouted demand, "ARE YEW AH YANKEE???"
I blinked a few seconds, and answered quite honestly, "No sir, I most certainly am not!"
"Yew ahll right then" was his reply, and we got the job done.

PDFs are up, someone spoil us!

SQUEE!

OK, I'll admit that opening to the table of contents, and seeing the names Maria Mercurial, JetBlack, and Euphoria, and then turning to the 'Things that will kill you' chapter, and seeing Captain Chaos's name gave me warm fuzzies.
-
The whole book's like that. Everywhere I turned, there was an old friend.

My only contribution was some of the Shadowtalk in Chicago. FastJack was fun, but getting to give Hatchetman a line gave me a warm fuzzy.
