Title: FA and Dedicated
Post by: Marcus on <09-07-17/1752:01>
Ok lets run though a few things:

A character may exchange spells they receive
from their selection on the Magic/
Resonance priority chart for 5 Karma to
spend on mastery qualities, but any Karma
that is leftover from purchasing these
qualities cannot be spent on other things or
kept after character generation.  FA Page 31.

So if you took any Magic priority that gives you spells you can cash any or all of them in for 5 karma per spell to spend into FA qualities.

The obvious ones goes something like this Priority A Magic, Dedicated Spell caster, aptitude spellcasting
Spellcasting 7 + Spec. Now we cash in lets say 9 of the 10 original spells which are mostly replaced by dedicated spellslinger (8) for which we give up summoning and binding.
now we take our 45 Karma from cashing in spells and grab oh say 3 levels of death dealer or 2 level of death dealer and shock mage or some other combination that tickles your fancy.

Now you could do the same thing with dedicated conjurer though what to spend the 50 karma on is a little more involved.

Or you could do one of these as a mystic adept and get some combination of spell/summoning/adept bonus qualities.

So what are your thoughts?

The mastery qualities still count against your maximum of 35 points of positive qualities at chargen. So you could sell up to 7 spells to get 35 karma to spend on mastery qualities, but you would have still used up your allotment of positive qualities at chargen.

The limit is 25 karma for standard creation

Oh, yeah. Been a while since I did characters under standard rules instead of prime runner rules.
