Maximum Mike Pondsmith is working with CD Projekt Red to creat a Sandbox Cyberpunk 2077 game. (also working on a PNP setting).

And I'm runnin' out on the edge
Soft screams of the rockerboys
Echoing through my head

I wouldn't expect wonders, you know. I'm Polish, so I kinda know what you can expect from CDPR. :P

As much as I love Shadowrun, to me its always been "the game I play because nobody plays Cyberpunk 2020," and the V3 setting/rules just kind of blah'd me. If the video game is good and the PNP makes more sense than CPV3, maybe it'll renew interest in the setting.

To me, cyberpunk will always be Neuromancer, Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive.

Calling CPV3 "blah" is probably the best thing I've ever seen written about it.  To me Cyberpunk will always be Film Noir with neon lights, so I'll definitely check out CP2077.

I'm... ambivalent to this, really. V3 was the last result of Max Mike dipping his feet in the world of mixing video game and PnP design (he wrote it while working for Bungie and has stated in past blog entries that he was trying to make a kind of 'console' version of cyberpunk), and that was $#!~ on toast. On the other hand, the little they've released about it does seem to have the right kind of feel so far, so... we'll see.

@Sichr, emsquared: Both games bored me soon. But I'm not a fan of Sapkowski's work (except for the pretty decent mini-RPG "Oko Yrrhedesa", but even that was a rip-off of some simple western RPG system), though I admit, the first two Witcher Saga books were really good (they contained short stories). That, and I didn't like the story much - felt a lot like the book. I admit, that might have been because the withcher is a whiny old pervert for me, a magically enhanced geezer, who's all emo about his life (which is pretty good), and screws up pretty much everything he does, because of that, and being a moral bigot. That, and the game is full of blatant nudity and porn stuff. I tend to like those themes served more subtly and tastefully. If I was to point at a cRPG that would be better as an inspiration for the Witcher, it would be both Drakensang titles.

As for what I mean, there aren't many people who know Cyberpunk well on board of the CDPR boat. I'd know if there were, I'm pretty savvy when it comes to Polish fandom gossip. :P

For a man who had to fend off the drunk author of the witcher saga bothering people at a con, I might be a bit biased. Besides, that was a valid dilemma, what the character does in the book is just trying to be 'neutral' and doing nothing when people get hurt, and then whining about it, because he has regrets.

As for Mike Pondsmith, I bet he does a lot consulting, but he's not going to coordinate the whole thing. He has better things to do. :P

I have to admit, I enjoyed the witcher games...

2 felt a little rushed near the end of it... Almost like they said "whoops, running outta time and cash... Better wrap this up quick!" but overall was still a great game
Where am I going? And why am I in a hand basket ???
