One of my favorite anime series, partially becasue it's so damn close to Shadowrun in many ways, yet is good enough to stand on its own. And I am of the opinion, that becasue of the way society is going, the future of human kind is going to be very much like GITS, for better or worse.

Now, if we can just get the same animation studio to do Shadowrun, then I can die happy.

If anyone could do it right it would be them.  As long as they got the production staff from GITS to produce it.

And that's the big dirty secret of Horizon, their setting up a 'Stand Alone Complex' hive-mind for metahumanity to end all those nasty negative results of individual mind-types.  Ya know, greed, war, lust, the whole nine yards....... ::)

many years ago i started working on the concept of a shadowrun anime, i would love to have the GitS crew work on it but the thing is you cant just take that cyber angle, you have to also be able to hit the magic and mundane side of things as well.....if you would like i'll post the anime opening/closing credits outline i came up with in the fan fiction, but i dont think its gonna fly

really love the series, the first 2 movies where ok, but the series is MUCH closer to the mangas. It wasn't to recently (like when I reread them, lol) that I noticed not only do they try to describe the psychological profile of the series's setting, but they tell you how the tech works too
