Ok this game is going to be open for everybody but I will be looking to give those who aren't playing in a game at the moment or have never played in a PBP first choice at the open spots.  If you are already playing in a PBP on here then you can still play in this game but you will be considered after all those who haven't played in a PBP before.  Maximum of 6 player spots are available and the 5 day rule is in effect, which means that if you are playing and don't post within 5 days you are automatically dropped from the game and a new character is brought in and you go to the bottom of the reserve list.

Would people like to generate their characters using BP or Karma?  I'm open to either but I'll let the group decide.

I would also like to find out if there is anybody out there who would like to Co-GM this game with me?  If you are interested at all let me know and we'll talk about it.

Is there any suggestions for where you would like to set this game initially?  Seattle is cool and all but somewhere different might be nice at this time of year.

When posting your interest please post what type of character you would like to play and a very short, 1 paragraph, background for your character.  Ok lets go!

I am interested in the game, but understand that priority will go to those who have less experience than me in PBP.

Experience: I am running one game, and am in one as well. Other than this I was briefly in another, so I am still relatively new, but not inexperienced.

Archetype: Mage

Brief note on character: Born and raised to be privileged Hitoshi grew up without a care in the world. his father was a higher ranking Yakuza with the ear of the Oyabun, his mother a dutiful Japanese with a head for business. Hitoshi was an only child and both his parents loved him dearly, that was until his awakening. It's not a perfect world and many families have been ripped apart by the new world you see iron the Trids all the time, but to actually witness it first hand is another story. The Yakuza do not trust Mages and his father was Yakuza. Hitoshi turned his childhood idol into a monster and his fathers pride, into shame and hatred. Before the Oyabun of the clan could find out his fathers disgrace, Hitoshi's mother got him out of Seattle and the Yakuzas path. Though she told him it was only to save face, Hitoshi still prays that it was their love that gave him this kinder fate than death. At times he wished they had not done him this service. Thrown for the high class neighborhoods of Seattle, to what seemed like halfway across the world to the streets of New York, Hitoshi learned the streets the hard way. If it weren't for Merlin's pride, a street gang in Manhattan's Pit, he would have died there as well. Hitoshi has a new family, and a new life, though he misses his old one he can not go back to it. He dreams of one day returning to Seattle rescuing his parents from themselves and regaining his first family his new one provides him with the shelter he needs to continue on with his life.

I would prefer to place the game in one of the more well fleshed out cities like Seattle or Denver, we can set it wherever everyone chooses though. I can come up with a reason for Hitoshi to end up there.
There are 10 kinds of people in this world, those who understand binary and those who don't

Quite interested. I'm not experienced enough to make a good Face.

I'll take whatever role the team needs but I have three character concepts:

1) Indiana Jones as an Adept. Has a Day Job as a weekly lecturer for a university, but often goes into the wild. I think I may have a man-crush on Harrison Ford as I styled him as Han Solo (with all the smuggling and perhaps poaching he would have done earlier in life) plus the Indiana Jones flavour of a BnE specialist (and arcane and magical know-it-all).

2) A Filipino refugee (three builds, adept, bioware adept, and mundane) who fled to Hong Kong with his family only to successfully leave Kowloon (years later) to go to Seattle. He established contacts, nursed a burning hate for the japanacorps and yakuza, and flourished in the Shadows. He's a "community leader" of sorts, sharing his pay with the refugees who still can't make ends meet and have remained SINless in the UCAS.

3) Wageslave who Emerged. Utterly loyal to his family/corporation, he did his best to be a frontman and welcome the Technomancers in. He himself was targeted for extraction by shadowrunner TMs. He's since discovered just how unfamily-like the corp really is and is trying to get by in the shadows. I haven't decided what his previous job was, but I was thinking "Advertisement Specialist" like programming or creating ads that weren't just flashed in AR. Or perhaps a totally boring job.

Races aren't nailed down yet, but these are typically humans, orks, or elves.

I've read through all the posts but going to let more people post their interest before selecting the starting team.

@Redwulfe - Hitoshi looks like a fun character and he starts out part of the Merlins as well which is pretty cool.  I'm kind of over Seattle as a starting city, I'd like to set this game in a different part of the country, or maybe even a completely different country all together!  Denver does appeal to me though, maybe get involved with GW.

@Sichr - Henry looks good and I'd be happy to have you in the game, but going to wait to see who else shows interest.

@Xzylvador - Interest duly noted!

@Ethan - I like the Indiana Jones Adept a lot!  But it's up to you which character you want to run with.  Your not playing in any other PBPs on here are you?

I'm in one game already (Out of the Frying Pan with Redwulfe as the GM).

By the way, Denver sounds awesome but I'm up for wherever.

Indy is a low-combat high sneak and flexibility character, specializing in Revolvers and Crossbows (figured it fit in, think of it as Chewie's bowcaster). He also has a small price on his head for his academic (not shadow) pursuits.

The mundane is a part-time face, hacker, and combatant---essentially how I pictured a "lone wolf" runner to be. He'll have 10-12 dice to throw for the non-combat skills and 14+ for shooting and slicing people. (If I throw in the Nanohive plus the Neural Amplifiers he gets 13-15 dice for hacking, and if you allow the use of Empathy Software it gets crazier for social stuff).

Hiho, I'm interested.

-I have a Technomancer ready since Dinopark run really never started for him. I only have to change his starting position.
++Shy Dwarf who has the 'Hang out to try' quality and wants do fnd out why. He is in Honolulu or Seatle.

-A Spec.Op/Demolition which I played for two or three one-night runs in RL.
++A german with many cyberware., He travels to Seatle to buy himself Synaptic Booster but needs money for this. (The journey from Hamburg to Seatle was actually a mission itself)

-I also have the concept for an AI but it's maybe to hard to roleplay.

I'm in one game (Auburn logrolling) but it's low activity at the moment, so I have free time.  As of characters I have to following:
-paracritter hunter(ork) adept.  He's specialised in bringing in strange critters (including humans) dead or alive.  Has a crockodile dundee kind of look.

-troll gilette: ex Japanese corp brat who was kicked out when she goblinized, got put in a brothel for those customers with a 'special' thing and escaped.  Now wanders around doing shadowruns (mostly being physical security).

-bug hunter (ork) adept: hails from Chicago and knows the bugs through and through.  Of course, skills like that can also be used to hunt down other spirits and humans.  works mostly with weapon foci and likes it up close and personal.

-gunbunny (elf) adept: uses two machinepistols for coolness (and rapid fire).  I have another ork version of this character for use in Lagos (should be play there).

-mage (human): ex-merc.  Runaway Egyptian woman who followes Ra (sun mentor spirit) and the old Egyptian tradition.  Has been in a lot of hellholes (Lagos, Yucatan, Bogota,...).  Mostly support and stealth over heavy combat spells.

Very much interested in this game, I have a Elf data carrier who can also fill rolls of Street sam. I will post him later tonight after I get back from Family picnic and spend my normal Sat evening with my wife. Dice pools 16 (mono whip), 15 (17 smartgun) with Pistol, SMG, 15 dodge (ranged), 9 perception, 12 all stealth group, 7 Etiquette (street). I tried for a basic well balanced build, ATT are body 5(6), AGL 5 (10), REA 3 (9), STR 2 (3), CHA 4, INT 5, LOG 2, WILL 3. 12BP spent on contacts (would have liked more, but I did not want skills to suffer)

I used 400BP but would be willing to work him in any Gen system. He is also made for Shadowrun missions, so I may take different positive and negative qualities tonight.

I'm going to leave this game recruitment open till probably wednesday to let people register their interest.  Choosing the team will come down to those folks who have never played a PBP getting first choice followed by everybody else in the order that they posted to this thread.  So it goes Redwulfe, Sichr, Xzylvador, Ethan, Larzarous, farothel.

Frankie the Fomori gets first spot because he hasn't played a PBP here.

@Ethan - Either of those characters would be good to go.

@Larzarous - Have you played in any games on here? If not your in.  Either the technomancer or spec op/demo guy would be good to go, choose the one that appeals more to you.

@farothel - Which character would you like to play?

@Frankie - You are in!  Finishe your character and post a link to him when he's done.

Ok so far the suggestion for the starting city for this game is Denver, Seattle doesn't work for me, so is there some other city that people might be interested in starting play in?

Possible suggestions from myself are Chicago, New York, Hong Kong, Paris, Honolulu, Miami and the Caribbean (cyberpirates are go!), Moscow, Brisbane?

Plus what kind of game would you like to play in?  Classic Shadowrun with a series of runs in the shadows for the mega corps trying to make enough nuyen to survive and looking after your own hoops, or maybe a game focusing on trying to stop a threat to the world of some kind with runs of various kinds to stop the threat in it's tracks (got an idea for a religious organisation based on genetic engineering that wants to kill off the rest of the world and usher in the rise of the New Man), or possibly you folks are actually working for a corporation or group trying to advance their agenda?

Still working on the PC, I got rather busy this weekend. For a city I would love to play in Melbourne (my wife is from there), Boston, London, Neo-Tokyo, Hong Kong, maybe Denver and New York (due to the amount that is written for it).

Waiting final word for build type, I do not mind playing Priority, 300-500BP, 750-1000 Karma. In fact I have never made PC's that are in the 500BP or 1000 karma range.

Cheers Frankie

My initial thought was just to make this a stock standard game straight out of the game books but using karma gen or 500BP might be fun.  What does everybody else think?

Ok so far we have Denver, Melbourne suggested as starting cities, any others?

500 BP sounds nifty, or correspondingly 950 karma I think. Never made a 500 BP character before.

There's things a-brewing in Denver, and I think all the themes you mentioned can be done in that city.

My two concepts are being tweaked: "Indy" has a fun concept for me but brings little to the table. I'm exploring ideas right now.

EDIT: Also it seems we're lacking a Matrix user, if so I've been itching to try a Technomancer for a while now.

500BP sounds interesting, by that we can do a high level run.
