This simple post is my lame attempt to gauge the community's interest in a new project I am working on.
The project is called Motor City Shadows (MCS). It is a Shadowrun Radio drama serial set in Detroit in 2077.
The goal of MCS is to combine the fun of collaborative storytelling in rpgs like Shadowrun with the dramatic, engaging delivery of serial radio programs. Think Shadowrun Let’s Play combined with Welcome to Nightvale. I call this kind of audio a Radio Roleplay Adventure/Drama (RRAD). I'm not in the least bit claiming it’s anything new, but I wanted a name for the audio format and creation process I was working on.
The current status of the project is Early Alpha. We are working on a Proof of Concept recording now with an eye to have it out in April. Our Pilot episode will be out in the fall.
This is our first attempt at creating RRAD type audio, so we’re learning on the job. If this is successful, we will be expanding into other genres. I wanted to start with Shadowrun as a long time fan of the universe and the kinds of stories you can tell within in.
My hope with this post is to see if there is interest in this style of rpg storytelling within the Shadowrun community. My ulterior motive is to not so subtly see if there are members in the here who might be interested in joining the cast of this project as either a Character Writer or Voice Actor (maybe both?)
