@irris your attack brings down two of the drones. The rest remain unresponsive, you'd expect them to fire again by now but they behave strangely.

@Ayato, Kynos As you walk the corridor toward the control room you can hear a bunch of old autonomic vacuum cleaner drones happily make their way toward you. They are almost happy to join you. If you are perceptive enough, you'll also notice a large group of security guards crouching behind flipped up tables and aiming their guns at you.

I am uncertain why the other group is not progressing but as you cannot contact them I figured we might just continue with you guys.

Drones are booby trapped with grenades perception test threshold 4 to notice that fact. Otherwise you'll probably ignore the drones thinking that they are just a diversion. There are 5 vacuum cleaner drones. The soldiers are difficult to spot due to the noise but you can spot them with 4 hits on perception test, you take -6 dice to spot them.

Also please roll logic + willpower.

Kynos didn't hesitate. Last time these fuckers had foamed them - there was no chance he'd let them do so again: With short controlled bursts, Kynos filled the hallway with armor piercing bullets, obliterating drones streaming from various doors and covers towards them. Meanwhile he observed the cloud of pepperpunch at the end of the corridor. He couldn't see anyone there but his tactical acumen told him that this was the most likely spot for the remaining forces to be assembled.

His fire would give Ayato time to get into position.

When Kynos opens the door Ayato lays down suppressive fire while he takes in the scene before him

Ayato spots the guards with his keen senses, but his astral senses spot no living auras in the room. There is a big aura in the astral and assensing that aura reveals that it is a powerful mana illusion, but there is no way to be certain what the illusion really is. At any case, living or not the guards opened fire at Ayato.

Kynos, on the other hand, being the invisible one has some more luck.

if one of the guards resists the invisibility then Kynos will be targeted with one of the lesser shots and would likely dodge it.

If none of them resists the invisibility then they cannot hear Kynos with him being stealthy and full automatic bursts, so Kynos can get a surprise attack.

Kynos had changed position as Ayato's warning reached him. He couldn't see them, but neither could they see him as it seemed. Deprived of his wireless smartlink signal he had to estimate the grenade shot: With a casual flick of his finger he pulled the trigger and fired the HE grenade behind the barricade.

Maxwell shrugs in reluctant agreement.  "If you say so.  My experiences say that dead men tell no tales.  But... whatever, let me see if I can deal with the next wave."  On a psychic line he speaks to Ignis.  "Hey, listen up!  We got a patrol inbound with armed gunmen.  Along with a vanguard of drones, those mechanical flying pests.  Take to skies and to the ground below and scorch them out of my way."  He forms the mental images of roto-drones, jeeps, tactical squad cars, mercs and rent-a-cops to share with the spirit.  To better it's understanding of what to be on the lookout for.  "Also, and this part is especially important, don't hit me or my friends in the crossfire."  Taking no chances, Maxwell shares the faces of Irris, Nyx, Simone and Wheely as well.

@Maxwell, Nyx, Simone, Irris, Wheely  The massive fire spirit is bit disappointed as Maxwel limits its actions against hurting his friends. "It says fire burns without limits" but is clearly compelled by the magical bond to do Maxwell's bidding. The spirit manifests on the vehicle that quickly catches fire. Some of the guards jump of the vehicle and the driver burns alive in the vehicle fire. In the meanwhile a large number of drones begins firing at the spirit.  Shortly after 3 other weaker spirits tackle the fire spirit in the astral but only Maxwell can see that part. At any case, that combat will take a while and the fire spirit is powerful enough to simply ignores most mundane weapons and minor spirits that attack it.

You guys are clear for now but your location is clearly exposed and if that fire spirit is not disposed of you can assume that considerably more deadly reinforcements will arrive. Few people in this city can summon such monstrosities. You need to change position but to where?  Another thing you notice is that your wireless connection with Kynos and Ayato is disconnected the two have completely vanished from the matrix and not even Wheely can get their signal. You have no way to say if the two are still alive even.

Kynos was braced for the explosion at the far end of the corridor - he was slightly less braced for the fragmentation grenade exploding five meters in front of him triggered by the the initial explosion.
Shell fragments bounced from his armored midsection and punched the air out of his lungs. Yet he stayed upright. The lights flickered and besides the insistent ringing in his ears everything seemed to be silent. Kynos turned around to look for Ayato. Hopefully the silent Nekekami had fared as well or better than him.

On the plus side, there were now no more enemies to contend with, but he noticed that his movements weren't as fast as they should be. 'Oh well, if it's getting too bad there's always drugs...'

I retreat back to my meat and scan the area looking for a fortified position.

@Irris there are many places to make a stand - but if you stay on ground for long you will have to fight one way or the other. Your presence is just too much of  a high profile to retreat to obscurity right now.

@Ayato, Kynos The exchange is swift though with so many bullets nobody seems to be hitting anyone, until Kynos tosses a grenade which causes a chain reaction knocking the barricade over and tossing you off your feet. (I think) Apperantly one of the fragmentation grenades is triggered by the massive explosions.  "Who puts a deadly grenade on a vacuum cleaner?" you may think as you try to recover from the terrible headache you must feel.
 
Your ears ring so you would not hear anything unless it is very loud. The area seems peaceful, the explosion knocked a bit from the walls and some nasty cracks appear on the walls but the place is a bunker. Strangely or not, the door to "Operations" is almost unscratched by the explosion. The way is clear, it is evident for you after a few short moments.

Simone finally remembers to breathe again after watching the massive fire spirit take out the patrol. "Mon Dieu, mon ami.  That is impressive.  And very, very scary.."  She sends a message to the team.  >>Team [Simone]:  It looks like we might need to move.  I seem to have lost contact with the assault team.  Any else still have them?  Perhaps we should go help them.<<
