Looks like we're getting pretty close on seeing this in shops. Jason H has confirmed that once the books are in general distribution, we'll be seeing the digital version offered.
Looking forward to it, though will probably have to get the digital version as am not back in the States until much later in the summer.
Do you believe in a greater WIRELESS, an Invisible(WiFi) All Seeing(detecting those connected- at least if within 100'), All Knowing(all online data) Presence that we can draw upon for Wisdom(downloads & updates), Strength (wifi boni) and Comfort (porn) or do you turn your back on it  (Go Offline)?

Digital versions now available:

DARKNESS EVERYWHERE

The Sixth World is a dangerous place, with deadly hazards lurking around every corner. Everywhere shadowrunners go, from the top of the world to the deepest, darkest Sprawl neighborhood, someone’s always looking to make their rep by taking you down.

World of Shadows is the second anthology of original Shadowrun short stories, each one showcasing some of the most far-flung, treacherous locations around the world. From a scientific mission gone wrong in the snowy wilds of Russia to an AR nightclub in Morocco sheltering runners on the lam to a recovering runner drawn into a deadly web of intrigue in the darkest alleys of Hong Kong, these eighteen original short stories explore exotic settings far off the beaten path. Featuring stories by Michael A. Stackpole, Mel Odom, Jean Rabe, Aaron Rosenberg, Phaedra Weldon, Annie Bellet, Chris A. Jackson and many others, find out what happens when shadowrunners have to battle not only with ever-present threat of the corps and Mr. Johnson, but also the dangers of the very land they stand on.

Neat.

What was the first anthology, if this is the second, though?

The first was Spells & Chrome, which came out in 2010 (SR4).

Of course, now it's available for wide electronic release (hopefully in widespread dead-tree format soon), I have to start sweating about reviews again.

I don't think you'll need to sweat too hard; I've enjoyed your writing so far! I hope to get this and the other released novel this week, assuming my local Barnes & Noble actually stocked them.

Good read, all of it. I especially liked the story with Leif, and the story about the ancient troll.
Some of the stories could have used some thorough proofreading though :/
If Tom Brady’s a Spike Baby, what does that make Brees and Rodgers?

On the whole I enjoyed the anthology, some stories I'd like to see extended in novels, but there were a couple that left me scratching my head and wondering why they were included.

I really enjoyed Patrick Goodman's story about Dragonslayer actively choosing to mentor a new runner, and I'd like to read more about how Erica grows as a Mage.

Russell Zimmerman, you actually made me get a little angry at the start of your story, so thoroughly did I get immersed in the story.  Great to read more about one of the Street Legends.

I was particularly disappointed by "Queen for a Minute" by Annie Bellet.  If it had been included with the original Shadowrun Returns game it may not have thrown me so much, but having a 2052 setting story in a new Shadowrun compilation seemed a very strange choice.

Overall I'm glad I bought it.  Off to read "Deniable Assets" now!

I'm very chuffed that you enjoyed "Thunderstruck," Sterling; thank you for the kind words. I would love to do more with Erica in the future, and I have at least one story idea with Sophie as the lead. Leland will be back soon, for sure.

It was fun writing a lighter shade of gray for this one, and I'm happy that you liked those folks.

If I could ask a favor of you: please go back to your point of purchase and give it a rating and a review. This helps drive teaffic to it.

Thanks!!

Any word on when it might be available in print? I was able to order Deniable Assets from Barnes & Noble (my local store still doesn't stock the Shadowrun novels until way after they come out (they finally got a copy of Crimson in)  >:( ), but they had no listing for World of Shadows.

Ok, I'll probably just get a digital version for that one then. Thanks for the head's up!
