I'd probably rule Intuition, because while also electronic, Matrix Perception (and Matrix Search) is a computer + intuition test. While Computer is usually linked with Logic, for perception purposes, it is linked with Intuition. Perceiving things seems to be about mixing observation and gut, not thinking through things.

A tad cookie cutter. A med school student doesn't need to be able to sneak and shoot like a Navy Seal, and a Samurai should never have strength 1 for any reason. Not even a firearm focused one, because RC. An Evac specialist may want higher strength as well. He's not evacuating anyone if he can't help lift that Ork runner that's bleeding out onto the gurney or into the ambulance.

Looks ok, otherwise. I like that you used the run faster book for some things like resources (In Debt 2) when necessary since it can be a bummer with resources E!
Desire is irrelevant. I am a machine.

They're intended as templates or Archtypes so Cookie-Cutter is pretty much what I was going for.  Generic, but flexible.

I suspect a Med School for the SINless is going to be a little different than a traditional school (hint: there really are no Med Schools for the SINless...)  And he's a shadowrunner first.  The Evac Specialist has a str of 4 and a flying gurney.  Yes the 200 KG troll will be an issue, but mostly because a 200 KG troll might not fit in the Medi-Drone  :)

The Samurai-Decker is stretched thin, but still has 7 Karma to spend.  Delay a few of the 1 skills till later to bump Str to 2, or shuffle a few points around if you really feel it necessary.  Again, cookie-cutter build to demonstrate concept.  Combat specialist with double digit hacking pools.  Take the basics and customize to what your character ideas or table rules are.

Don't know if you've picked up Chrome Flesh yet, but p 61 has a Life Modules Further Education called Street Doc.  Covers what you're attempting here.
"His name is Sterling. He’s an ex-pat Brit making a living as a fixer and a hacker in Metropole. He’s a rare blend of upstanding and fun...(so) listen to his experience."

These are all normal priority generation so no Life Modules.

You might also like the modified SKillwires and teh access to Skillsoft Databases. It could solve some of your frustrations. :)

I have no frustrations re: character building.  At least, once I accepted technomancers were a pet class, I had no frustrations...   I do see others come here with a mish-mash of skills and attributes resulting in ineffectual dice pools and overall mechanically poor performance for no character RP reasons.  These are simply a set of broad guidelines and builds that can be used as a basic outline or copied outright and re-skined.

But yes Chome Flesh has a giant pile of stuff for anyone with Nuyen.  Still percolating, may get around to updating these eventually but it took a while to get them put together.

Have you got a build for a recon/instruction Academic type please?

Instruction is a single skill isn't it?  Pick any of the high agility builds, either the Gun Bunny or HTR would likely work well.  Swap the skill points around a bit.

"Recon" I'd say Stealth, Perception and Mini drones and either of those builds can accommodate that.

The Mage build would also work well depending on how you want to define "Recon".  Spirits and Astral perception along with Physical Invisibility and other Illusion spells will also get the job done.

If you've got time to put down more specific requirements you'll get all kinds of recommendations.

Edit:  Instruction looks to be for NPCs and flavor, pick it up with a couple points of Karma if it's something your character "should" have and forget it.  Or take a knowledge skill of some kind.  Mechanically I just can't see why a PC would have it, and if it's for flavor just pick up a couple points and carry on.

"Recon" can be done by any of the above builds.  They've all got Sneaking and Perception, and any of the them could drop some gear to pick up a couple mini and micro drones.  Or the mage could shuffle spell selection around to get there.  Unless your definition of Recon includes some thing else.

A Perception test is normally Perception + Intuition [Mental]. The rules for sensors allow you to replace Perception for Electronic Warfare and Sensor in place of Mental limit "when you use the sensor array for Perception Tests". Using simple substitution, that means a Perception test using sensors could be EW + Intuition [Sensor Rating] instead of Perception + Intuition [Mental].

This is Correct. When substituting Sneaking (pg 136) or Palming (pg 419) into Perception Tests only the skill is changed not the Attribute. If you are physically touching the person (pg419) then Palming or Agility can be substituted as desired.

Oh dear, that is embarrassing- what happens when one types on a phone in a hurry!

I meant to ask (and thanks for the answer btw) if you had a recon/intrusion academic build - a thief/scholar if you like...

Process of elimination, Magic or not?  Hacker or not?  If "not" to both questions then either the Gun Bunny build gets you close.  Fiddle with the skill points and Qualities to get what you need.  Drop some of the specialized gear for a couple of Mini and Micro drones and you're set.

Part of the intrusion skill set is Social skills so you'll likely want to pick up Con somehow.  You'll be terrible at it, but you should be able to scrounge up 6 or so dice and Edge.  A splash of Disguise with Karma goes a long way, same with Locksmith, all you need is a couple points in each.  Perception, Stealth and probably Pistol at 6.  Maybe Unarmed or Monowhip.

I'll toss up something slightly more detailed this evening.

Infiltration and Recon.  Basically a Samurai with a splash of Con and a pocket hacker.  The Agent should be able to get a mark on the occasional unattended copy machine, and you've got enough Electronic Warfare that Control Device and Snoop are possible on easy targets.

I didn't flesh out the Sensor Arrays on all the Drones, do that.  You probably want to pick up a handheld sensor or two as well for when the Drones can't be run.  You're going to be using Electronic Warfare as Perception and you need to run that through sensors to do that.

You may want to pick up a Hold out pistol for when you need to be really sneaky.

You've got enough Fast Talk to get past most Wage Slaves and mooks, Edge when you have someone a bit more competent or suspicious.

The Augmentations are really basic, you could probably tweak those a bit to match up with your character concept.  Ditto qualities.

Your builds are very interesting, but I notice no Trolls. Is it possible to do a Troll Academic?

Could you please give us a non-magic and a magic Troll brainiac please?

For the thief build above swap Metatype and Attributes priority.  Str goes to 1, Cha goes to 1; gain 20 Karma, then lose 6 stat points from wherever,  take Edge back to 1, add back in whatever Metatype B selection you want.  Re-allocate the 20 Karma.

Overall your dice pools take a hit.  Most Metatypes are sub-optimal for builds that emphasize Agility and Logic, but are still viable.  And not playing to type is sometimes its own source of entertainment.

Most of the builds posted above can swap Attributes and Metahuman priority around and be good to go with minor tweaks.  The first Decker build would require re-prioritization to get to Troll, but could be anything that Metatype C gets you without much work.
