Thanks for clarifying.
So Kachina will:
  • Milk Run for the full Karma
  • Pay 2,250 NY interests for In Debt III
  • Train in Arcana (1 / 1day) for 2 Karma
  • Attempt to Initiate (Arcana + Intuition (1)/1 month). Initiation (Arcana+Intuition): 9d6t5 1

Let me know if the initiation will have to roll over Month 2.

Also I just realized having the Fling Limited is pointless, would you mind me switching back to the regular Fling spell?

Great, calculated the total karma with the milk run.  Spent 2 Karma on Arcana.  You are able to spend 13 days studying the deeper meanings of magic, and have 15 days left (have to do some of it next month and honestly roll into month 3 since you'll only have 14 days worth of training to work with)  You don't actually spend the karma until you complete the initiation.

I have switched the Limited over to Increase Reflexes, that makes sense, I think.  Let me know if that's not what you want!

Also, you never described what her fetishes actually are!
That's just like... your opinion, man.

Oops missed that. The fetishes are the rare feathers she usually attaches to her earrings or her braids.
Her Power focus is the neck-chock she wears, on which she has attached a subvocal micro phone.
Her Sustaining focus is a ring adorned with turquoise stones.

'Limited' on Increase reflexes works for me.

For the training, let be smart about it then. How about I spend 10 days each months on it and should be able to initiate by month 3.
Meanwhile I'll spend 3 days acquiring and learning Detox Spell for 5 Karma and 550? Nuyens (added 10% acquisition fee)
Learning Health Spell Spellcasting(Health) + Intuition: 16d6t5 4

Sounds ok?

Excellent.  Changes made.

Also... what's the second fetish for?  I only listed one spell as being limited, but you had two fetishes.
That's just like... your opinion, man.

LOL I am not an asshole. What's a good story without drama. How much would a spell formula a lodge cost? Would I be able to afford it if I didn't work for the people?

I plan on doing Milk Run post soon and will take the second week as Working for the People.  Is it acceptable to write that up as a week spent donating money and time at Bear's clinic?  I would like to get him as a contact, so what is the karma cost of that if it is possible?

Also, I think I may need some clarification of what exactly is a milk run.  It appears that it is a short adventure, but what is the difference between that and a short fiction story?

In 'fluff,' a Milk Run is a job you took that turned out to be easy money.  A common trope in Shadowrun is that anything that's described as a Milk Run prior to actually doing the job often turns out to NOT be a Milk Run.

In regards to the meta of Shaking Down Shadows, Milk Run refers to a means for me to grant everybody a bit of extra karma and nuyen over what is earned during the course of the Shadowruns we actually play through on the forums here (this way everyone can kind of actually build up a decent amount of karma to advance their characters over the course of the campaign).  The Milk Run will be an event that your character partakes in that would end up in the character being paid, even if that 'money' never shows up because in the meta you chose to take the full karma allotment (fluff wise maybe it was just enough to pay for a weekend on the town or maybe you donated that money or maybe the milk run had complications and you actually had to pay out of pocket for expense incurred).  We assume a Milk Run occurs whether you post about it or not.

The purpose of the Short Fictions, on the other hand, is to create depth for your character and flesh them out, as well as provide deeper insight to your character for the other players.  Let us all know what your characters does, what motivates him or her, etc.  These can be current stories, stories from the characters past, or whatever your creative mind desires.  It can possibly describe a job as well.

So their specific purposes are different, but the results and application can certainly be conflated, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Hope that sort of answers your question!

Thank you.  So as I understand it I can get the Milk Run and still get the 14 days for advancement, etc.  To my knowledge I already have the short fiction credit for month 1 so I do not need another until you start month 2.  With that in mind, here is what I am trying to do in the next few days:

1.  Milk Run for money  (Stealing something for profit)
2.  Go to Hank's clinic for a week of Work for the People.  (Turn 6K of the milk run money into 3 karma)
3.  Try to get First Aid 1 training while at Hank's  (Is it possible to do the training at the same time I am working for the people?)
4.  Find a cyberware clinic to add a fingertip compartment for my cyber arm and put the monofilament whip inside.  Go for First Aid 1 in this week as well if there is time and I cannot do it at Hank's.
5.  Spend karma to get Hank as a contact.

I am collaborating a bit with Callico to put her at Hank's while Tanya is there.  Perhaps a small part of the story.  It can be used to possibly link the teams in some manner.

I see what you did there, turning 2 Karma into 3 Karma!  ;D

I made changes on some of the awards for Milk Runs.  What WAS written was that Prime Runners get 7 Karma and can exchange at 1 for 3000.  That will remain in effect for Month 1 (since I don't like changing things after I set expectations while we are working through the process).  What is now written is that Prime Runners will still get 5 Karma like normal runners, but get the higher exchange rate (so you can still turn 2 Karma into 3 Karma, no problem with that, since you are taking a week of your precious training time to do it).

You cannot train concurrently with working for the people, it's a mechanical device to control progression.  Story wise it can make sense to just take the training day right after the working for the people.

SO after all of that you will have 7 days to work with.

Training First Aid to Rank 1 is 1 Day
Installation of the Monofilament into a Finger Compartment will be 1 Day (plus paying for the upgrade, but you already have the whip)
This leaves you with 5 days.  You can use these days to train more skills or lose them (taking a break or something).

There is no means in RAW (rules as written) by which to spend Karma for a contact.  However, I don't think that it should be out of the question, so allow me to take a bit of time to check in with the community and see what some general opinions of how much that should cost...

I am slow as a dog.  It took me an entire day to get what you were saying.  I had totally forgotten that I was a Prime Runner and was using the normal conversions.

So Can I change my mind on allocating my time and instead of working for the people learn the spell alter memories?

I threw up a post for Tanya's Working for the People week.  I had significant help from TRV123 for Calico's part.  I hope that the dialogue eventually used is as it was mentioned in our emails.  I will mod the post if needed.  I was approached to do the Milk Run write up as a joint story for Tanya and Calico as a team heist.  We want to know if we can both contribute and get the karma for doing that?  Have fun with the story and I hope is meets the standards.

Requiem can't afford a brand new car  :-[ ...any chance he can get a 'second hand' model for less?  Perhaps with some gremlins tossed in???  Will get back to you on any other spending when I can wrap my head round it!

Oh, and I've started writing up my milk run...I've forgotten if it's been confirmed what time of the year we are in at the moment?  Want to keep my timeline consistent  ;D
