Hiro's a sword prodigy that was brought up in the Shiawase corporation as a true samurai, embracing the ideals of Bushido and the blade over all else. He served loyaly for years until his superior ordered him to do something that clashed with his personal honor. With great reluctance, he refused that order, then bailed on the corporation as a whole, unable to serve an honorless master any longer. On teh streets, his rigid code and corporate bearing make him an easy markletting peopl eknow at a glance what they're dealing with. (Of course, the downside is that he's easy to find. Fortunately he didn't break ties with Shiawase violently, but he *did* break ties and, someday, they'll come afte rthe debt he owes._
A few side notes.
His helmet is very stylized, a proper Japanese samurai kabuto with a mempo (faceplate), the entire thing stylized like an Oni. He only wears it when things get serious, as it's teh final piece of a samurai's armor. With it off, he tries to avoid fights when possible, but once it's donned, he's a merciless murder machine.
He's unusual in that he never got his eyes replaced. An artist at heart, he can't abide the notion of losing his natural vision. He's not a very good artist, having had little time in the past to practice, but now with more free time, he's starting to find time to enjoy himself. As his old sensei used to say, "Calligraphy is like swordplay. Once a stroke is made, it cannot be retracted. You must steady your hand and only strike when you know your aim is true.)
While ambidextrous, he rarely fights with Katana and Wakizashi (the sword), but instead fights with a Katana in his right hand and a pistol in his left, keeping him from having to swap between them in a fight. His relationship with Shiawase is complex and confusing, with an ingrained loyalty and love for the corp but a hatred for the lies, betrayal, and dishonorable behavior that he can now see where once he sheltered his eyes.
Hiro's picked up a handful of basic skills from being along side many a Mr Johnson as a guard, and now is having to learn Shadorunning skills, which grate at him. His belief in Bushido rubs against his practical need for stealth.
