What would I need to do in order to ignore a specific poster here? I've poked around but it seems my fu is weak.

Profile -> Buddies/Ignore List -> Edit Ignore List -> Add To Ignore List, enter name (there's a search function too) and click Add.

Found out today it doesn't seem to block private messages.

It should. I've received multiple e-mails and even a forum PM from another account to dodge it.

Found it. Profile -> Personal Messaging -> Receive personal messages from <dropdown>. You can select "All members, except those on my ignore list" there.

And in Profile -> Look and Layout, you can change whether the posts of those on your ignore list are hidden by default.
